Enjoy hassle-free camping at Old Bidlake Farm, a smallholding situated in west Dorset, in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as the Marshwood Vale, three miles from the dramatic Jurassic Coast.

We offer the chance of sleeping under canvas, close to nature, free from the stresses of modern life. This isn't glamping, rather hassle-free camping, where we offer everything we can think of to make your stay relaxing, comfortable and lots of fun.

Our traditional canvas tents sit sheltered by hedges and wild flowers in a one-acre section of pasture field, with backdrop views of Pilsdon Pen, Colmers and Lewesdon hills. A one-minute stroll through the orchard leads you to the shower block and communal kitchen. There is plenty of space for children to run free, ride bikes or go pony trekking at the riding stables next door, whilst you sit back and unwind.

Don't worry that the price to pay for this rural idyll will be a scarcity of culture and activity: we are two miles from the vibrant market town of Bridport, a hub for art, music and food lovers and just a ten-minute drive to the beach.

At the heart of our plans for the campsite is the desire to tread lightly on the landscape and our approach is eco-friendly and sustainable. Camping at Old Bidlake provides a great base for cycling and walking holidays; a perfect weekend retreat from the rat race; a traditional family summer holiday or a memorable location to celebrate a special occasion.

Follow the signs to the town and drive straight through the centre past Waitrose on your left, across the first mini roundabout and on to the second roundabout. Here turn right onto the B3162 signposted to Chard and continue on this road for approximately one mile. Turn left at the Dottery crossroads to Broadoak. Continue along this road for half a mile and Old Bidlake Farm can be found on the right-hand side approximately 500 yards before the Broadoak sign.

Local attractions

The Jurassic Coast, 95 miles of stunning coastline stretching from Dorset to east Devon, has been awarded World Heritage status, placing it alongside the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef as one of the natural wonders of the world.

The harbour of West Bay - the stunning location for Broadchurch - is just a ten-minute drive away and the elegant town of Lyme Regis, a great spot for fossil hunting, is less than ten miles away.

But west Dorset is not just about the sea, there is equally stunning scenery and fascinating places to visit if you head inland to explore the countryside of the Marshwood Vale. The two highest points in Dorset, Lewesdon Hill (279m) and Pilsdon Pen (277m) both Iron Age hill forts, provide the backdrop to our camping field and can be ascended by several footpaths.

This is a great location for cycling, walking and horse riding with many tree lined ancient paths and bridleways.
