  • Traditional working farm with cider production and microbrewery
  • Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and views of the Jurassic Coast
  • Italian restaurant; tickets are extra for summer events and festivals
Fancy the sound of a Dorset farm with its own cider production and cosy restaurant – plus summer events (which you need to buy separate tickets for)? With views of the fably viewsome Jurassic Coast and Bride Valley, adults-only Bredy Farm is also close to beaches, the South West Coast Path, Bridport and Dorchester. You might fancy a pint or two of that, cheers. All these happenings are on a relaxed and friendly working farm with its own microbrewery and cider shed open to the public. It's set up for simple camping, for excellent cider and for parties, at its occasional weekend-long music events (extra charge). Guests pitch up in The Orchard or The Mead on either side of the river Bride. Facilities include running water, a basic cold-water area to wash pots and pans, three portable toilets, four composting toilets, three rustic shower units on The Mead (free to use) as well as two flushing toilets and two modern, high-quality coin-operated showers (located on the main farm). Certainly not basic are the offerings at the farm's Italian restaurant/café, which serves up plates of tasty homemade food, including proper Neapolitan-style pizzas (it's rightly popular so it's best to book ahead, especially if you're travelling in a group). From May to August, Bredy Farm is buzzing with energy. Every Friday and Saturday night, expect live music, DJs and a lively bar open until 2am. If you're after a quiet, peaceful country break, then you might want to visit in the midweek or out of the season – even then, Friday and Saturday still bring a party.

What customers say

This adults-only campsite is praised for its beautiful rural location and relaxed, friendly atmosphere, often described as having a festival vibe on weekends. Highlights include the on-site bar, restaurant serving excellent pizza, and the Cider Shed. Pitches are generally spacious and well-maintained, with some noting the orchard area is quieter. However, some visitors found facilities basic, particularly toilets, and experienced significant noise from music and revellers during weekend parties.

Orchard non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (adults only)

Liked The partial isolation and location. A decent walk and you end up at Hive Beach where you can walk the coastal path to West Bay.

It was a bit of a ‘free for all’ trying to get a decent pitch for the van. A lot of uneven surfaces.

Entertainment was DJ Fri and Sat, The Rattle Shed was a converted barn with a bar. Decent selection of drinks, including IPA and on site cider.

The Parlour restaurant serves good pizza, just seemed limited on meat options.

18+ campsite.

Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Disliked The Saturday night saw the owner have his birthday. Free BBQ and champagne flowing. Only downside, it went on ALL night - rubbish nights sleep. Music was loud from the barn.

The portaloos were disgusting. There was one W/c on the whole site that wasn’t in a plastic box. If you were downwind of them on your pitch…

Of course, I had to park near the weed smoking. There was a lot of it. Each to their own, but not for breakfast thanks.

I stuck to the IPA which, when going through my bank account, varied in price. £6.00 then £6.10…

I get it’s trying to have a ‘festival feel’, wasn’t expecting it that weekend!

Mead non-electric grass pitch (adults only)

Liked It was a good location, and had showers and toilets which was a plus. We liked the pizza on site too

Disliked The owner seemed very strange, was a very loud campsite (Even in the quiet camp) Toilets were not clean at all. We did have to wait for 1.5hr for 1 pizza & they had a Dj till 2am both nights which for some people is good but not so much for us.

Liked Toilets and showers were fine. The restaurant was excellent with great service.

Disliked We camped here a couple of years ago and loved the rustic low key level party vibe. However; it felt like an 18 to 30 holiday destination this weekend. Unfortunately we won’t return.

Orchard non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Situated in a gorgeous position, surrounded by countryside, the sound of the stream and grazing cattle.

Disliked Service in the restaurant was a little lacklustre, very slow to be served and had to wait over an hour for a take away pizza and see others served before us who arrived after, think our order was lost.

Local attractions

If you're here for an events weekend, stick around for a bit afterwards to investigate the area: take it as read that your boss will applaud your initiative. Start off by going seawards: the nearest beach and the local stretch of Jurassic Coast are about a mile away in front of Bredy Farm's local village of Burton Bradstock, leading to the famed Chesil Beach. (The award-winning Hive café dishes up seafood in Burton Bradstock too.) If it's Jurassic Coast fossils you're after, the nearby Dinosaurland Fossil Museum in Lyme Regis has piles of specimens in its collection of local Jurassic marine fossils, so meander along here to see what you can sea. More fossily remains are in the Jurassic Coast gallery at nearby Bridport Museum. Piles of other things are around Bredy Farm to see and do, such as the village of Abbotsbury and its swannery, full-size construction machinery driving at Diggerland Devon, seaside towns like Charmouth and Weymouth, and exploring old buildings like Hardy's Cottage. If you're around to shop, local town Bridport has a vintage market on the last Sunday of every month. You might also like to try more of the fizzy stuff if you're around Bredy Farm for a cider weekend, so totter off to a couple of the boozy attractions in the area, such as the tastings and tours of Bridport's Palmer Brewery, founded in 1794, and sampling the sparkling and still wines of Furleigh Estate Wines, producing Dorset wine from its base at Salway Ash.
