  • Riverside Dorset family park 15 minutes’ drive from the New Forest
  • Bournemouth beach 15 minutes’ drive and Peppa Pig World 25 minutes
  • Quiet, well-kept site rich in wildlife and with fishing on the Stour
Who says you have to choose between a beach holiday or a rural one? That’s certainly not the case at Meadowbank Holidays in Dorset, sitting on the banks of the River Stour and 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Bournemouth. It’s a 15-minute hop to Mudeford Beach by car, and the same to woodland walks in the New Forest National Park. Family-run and family-friendly, this is a quiet, well-kept spot set among lots of greenery and vibrant seasonal flowers. There’s plenty of wildlife to spot when you’re having a wander along the riverbanks – kingfishers, herons, swans and otters are frequent visitors. You can go coarse fishing for bream and perch on the river too; free permits are offered to all site guests. Facilities-wise, expect a modern facilities block with hot showers, baths and a disability-friendly bathroom, a launderette and dish-washing sinks. There’s a handy on-site shop for stocking up on the essentials, plus a games room and play area for keeping younger guests out of trouble. If you’d like to park up the car and explore the area on public transport, the park is on a regular bus service that runs to Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Fairly level pitch. Friendly staff. Close to a number of bus stops with a really good service. Lovely surroundings with the river. Excellent, clean facilities.

Disliked Couldn't put up our awning as the gravel had hard core/cement beneath and too hard to peg into it. It was hot, and we used our roll out awning - pegged into the grass. The shop was a long walk.

Gold 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked Very welcoming and great staff in a very nice area by the river. Very quiet caravan park with a lovely cafe and perfectly placed for our fishing trip on the Stour on site and nearby Avon rivers.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Pretty much everything. It is a top site. Love the cafe and being next to the river.

Disliked If there is anything to say here and it is minor - the showers are a little hostile. You can't adjust the temperature, flow or direction.

Gold 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked I am unsure what is the true price for the place, paid via pitchup, Bournemouth weekend cheerleading even June 2026. Booked 6 months in advance.
£351 for 3 night. I couldn't find anything cheaper for a family of 4.

Arrived at a beautiful kept caravan site. Loved the the hanging baskets and plant pots everywhere.

WiFi on site
No information in the booklet but saw a information passing by the laundrette with the password for the WiFi

Reception very welcoming.
The caravan site is Sooo quite...
Very relaxing.

We were super busy so unfortunately only had 10min at the playground over the 3 nights stay and haven't used any facilities.

Neither used the mini golf just next to the site.

Also didn't use a local pool which I was hoping we will fine some spare time to go to.

I wished we had more time to spend and explore.

12min drive to Bournemouth beach.
Super busy carparks during that weekend.

£25-30 taxi to Sunbank beach one way.

Thank you.
We would recommend and come back if staying in Bournemouth again.

Local attractions

On holiday with toddlers? First stop will probably be Paultons Park Home of Peppa Pig World (25 minutes’ drive), packed with Peppa Pig experiences from carousel rides to water slides. Older kids may well prefer the vintage cars, historic buses and supercars at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu (40 minutes). You have a choice of several beaches for seaside days out; Mudeford (15 minutes) is a sandy spit with calm waters for swimming or dinghy sailing. There’s a stretch of soft sand in Bournemouth (10 minutes) as well as a fairground with a helter-skelter on the Victorian-era pier; a less-crowded option is at Hengistbury Head (15 minutes), where you can stroll along the cliffs. Walkers can head straight for the footpaths of the New Forest National Park (15 minutes), or have a potter around the castle, ancient priory church and harbour at historic Christchurch (10 minutes). A popular day excursion takes in the Isle of Wight; catch the ferry across The Solent from Southampton (35 minutes).
