  • Family-run site on the north Devon coast with spectacular sea views
  • Five minutes' walk to Hartland and 10 mins' drive to Mouthmill beach
  • Fishing pond on site; surf and canoe lessons arranged nearby
If you’re a fan of fishing and floating around in north Devon, head over to Hartland Caravan and Camping Park, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty about a 10-minute drive (plus a scenic walk) to the remote shores of Mouthmill beach with its famed Blackchurch natural rock arch. Yet more sandy and pebbly beaches, leisure parks, golf courses, driving ranges and horse riding are also all around the region; for treks with views of the sea amble along the South West Coast Path from Mouthmill or take to the Tarka Trail, which runs in a circular route from Barnstaple before skirting the coast near the park. Join it for coastal and countryside wanders through pretty north Devon towns and villages like Braunton, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Lynmouth, stopping by surf beach Croyde along the way. For eats, the shops of Hartland (including small general stores selling meat, fruit and vegetables alongside everyday groceries) are a five-minute stroll down the road. This village also has a couple of pubs serving food, wine and beer (one is a gin specialist too…). For the morning after the night before, a coffee shop is on hand for cappuccinos and bacon rolls.

Non-electric grass pitch (solo)

Liked: Firstly Becca was really friendly and accommodating and phoned to check on arrival time. She explained where I could camp and where the best views were and what was available. All directions were easy to follow and there was lots of room for my tent and vehicle. Showers and bathroom were amazingly clean and the showers in particular were excellent. Location is not far from clovelly and I took day trips to Cornwall so all easy access. Hartland point and Quay are not far away from bude. All in all a great place to stay and will definitely be back.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: - I liked that the fields wasn’t to far away from the shower and toilet -How attentive and accommodating becca was by calling a couple hours before/sending a text with info and being very chilled -showers were nice and hot and clean. Nice that there was a hook and place to put your belonging and also hair dryer - pretty close to some really lush walks( we did Speke mill waterfall)

Disliked: -Nothing to do with the campsite but location is quite and not very many food places or the few that are I would pre book if you’re looking for food out.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Warm and friendly campsite, nice location, good size pitches, it was great that we could have a fire, have electric and bring our gazebo as well as our tent.

Disliked: Could do with a ‘Reception’ sign at the building on arrival as it wasn’t obvious enough. Lots of wasps, first campsite we’ve been to where we’ve been bothered by them. They ran out of fire pits so we had to go out and buy our own. Option to hire fishing rods would be great as the kids really wanted to try fishing but we didn’t have any of our own, if this was available it wasn’t clear anywhere.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: We loved this site, it was clean and tidy. Toilet block was cleaned everyday. Each field had a few pitches on which made it cosy and very relaxing. Gorgeous views of the sea in distance and rolling hills. The site owners couldn’t do enough for you, so welcoming. We will definitely come back. The local village was a short walk away with pubs and shop, really quaint village of Hartland. The Hartland Quay was stunning we visited here a few times such pretty place and stunning views of the coastline, highly recommend if visiting Hartland.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel extremely welcome and had a fantastic time. The onsite facilities were clean and tidy. The site being dog friendly is an ideal place for those wanting to get away with the dogs with plenty of places to walk and explore. Becs and Robin were very helpful throughout our stay and the 'Football Dogs" were a huge hit. We will definitely be returning. Thank You

Non-electric grass pitch (solo)

Liked: I stayed in the Hartland Caravan & Camping Park as a solo female traveller. The site felt safe, the location was great but it's the staff that made the stay even better. So friendly, gave advice on where to visit and where to park. Hartland Quay was a short drive away, and well worth a visit if wanting a scenic walk to the Speiks Mill mouth waterfall.

Local attractions

Hartland Abbey is five minutes’ drive away from the site for relaxed roams around an old historical structure, although the rides of The Milky Way Adventure Park (10 minutes) could be a better option if you’re looking for entertainment for the kids… Younger members of your group may also be less keen on peering at the work in the Burton Art Gallery and Museum (25 minutes), which has lots of local crafts on display, but are sure to appreciate bucket and spade times at the sandy beach of Westward Ho! half an hour’s drive away. You might also be able to convince them into coming on morning jaunts to Northam Burrows Country Park (also 30 minutes) or birdwatching at the RSPB Isley Marsh (35 minutes) with the lure of an afternoon at The Big Sheep farm-themed amusement park (20 minutes).
