  • Family-run site on the north Devon coast with spectacular sea views
  • Five minutes' walk to Hartland and 10 mins' drive to Mouthmill beach
  • Fishing pond on site; surf and canoe lessons arranged nearby
If you’re a fan of fishing and floating around in north Devon, head over to Hartland Caravan and Camping Park, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty about a 10-minute drive (plus a scenic walk) to the remote shores of Mouthmill beach with its famed Blackchurch natural rock arch. Yet more sandy and pebbly beaches, leisure parks, golf courses, driving ranges and horse riding are also all around the region; for treks with views of the sea amble along the South West Coast Path from Mouthmill or take to the Tarka Trail, which runs in a circular route from Barnstaple before skirting the coast near the park. Join it for coastal and countryside wanders through pretty north Devon towns and villages like Braunton, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Lynmouth, stopping by surf beach Croyde along the way. For eats, the shops of Hartland (including small general stores selling meat, fruit and vegetables alongside everyday groceries) are a five-minute stroll down the road. This village also has a couple of pubs serving food, wine and beer (one is a gin specialist too…). For the morning after the night before, a coffee shop is on hand for cappuccinos and bacon rolls.

What customers say

This friendly, family-run site is praised for its excellent location, a short walk from Hartland village with its pubs and shops. Reviewers consistently highlight the exceptionally helpful and welcoming nature of the owners, Becca and Rob, who go out of their way to assist guests. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are frequently described as clean and well-maintained, with many appreciating the hot water and good water pressure. The site offers beautiful views, particularly from the top fields. While generally peaceful, some guests noted occasional noise from a neighbouring business, and a few mentioned that facilities could become busy during peak times. Pitch sizes and layout are generally well-received, though some found them close together in certain areas. The site is considered a great base for exploring the local area and coastal paths.

Very helpful and accommodating, friendly staff

Disliked I really shouldn’t grumble about a lovely hot shower, but in the current weather, I could really have done with being able to alter the shower temp as really needed it cooler!

Liked We were a group of 15 — 7 adults and 8 children aged between 5 and 11 — and stayed at Hartland Caravan Park for a week. From the moment we arrived, we had such a wonderful experience.
When we arrived at reception, we were directed to Pitch 4, where we were greeted by Beck. From start to finish, she was incredibly welcoming, friendly and informative. As it was Parade Weekend, she gave us a leaflet and even told us the best place to stand with the children so we could get the most out of it.

Our group included everyone from experienced campers to people camping for the very first time. Beck was always quick to offer help and advice whenever we needed it. Once we had settled in, she gave us a note with our remaining balance and her contact details, telling us to call her anytime if we needed anything.

And we certainly did! We called Beck several times for information, and she never once seemed fed up with us. When one of the children unfortunately hurt themselves, Beck was there in a heartbeat to help. She provided assistance and even gave them crutches to help them walk. Her kindness and genuine care really stood out.

The facilities at the campsite were exceptionally clean. We used them regularly throughout our stay and noticed the cleaner coming in and out at least three or four times a day. There were also mops and cleaning equipment available for anyone who wanted to clean up after themselves, which was a great touch.
The campsite is also within driving distance of lots of beautiful beaches, restaurants and attractions. Some places were around 30 minutes away, while others took up to an hour and a half, but the journeys were easy and enjoyable, so we didn't mind travelling.
Beck was also fantastic when it came to recommending places to visit. She suggested several restaurants and beaches, and we even travelled into Cornwall twice. She recommended two local beaches that were both within half an hour of the campsite. One had a beautiful waterfall, although it was around a 20-minute walk from where we parked, and the other was opposite a harbour where we enjoyed crabbing.
As a parent, I worry quite a lot when it comes to my children's safety. However, while staying here, they had all the freedom in the world and absolutely loved it. I felt comfortable letting them explore, and Beck was always keeping an eye out for them. The children absolutely adored her.

There isn't anything specifically on-site for children to do, but that wasn't a problem for us. We brought their bikes and plenty of games, and there was lots of open field space for them to roam and play. We also met a few other families who had stayed at the site before, and the children all ended up playing together. Beck even brought some of her family members over to say hello, which made the whole experience feel incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Walking distance to local shops, pubs and restaurants. Asda, lidl ect is 20/25 minutes away. Which is an easy drive.

Honestly, this was the best holiday I've had in a long while. The children had an absolute blast, and we all came home with some fantastic memories.

A huge thank you to Beck for making our stay so enjoyable and for going above and beyond for us. We would 100% return to Hartland Caravan Park and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly, peaceful and welcoming place to stay. We can't wait to come back!

Disliked Everything was excellent. Except on arrival we wasn't sure we was in the right place. But soon discovered we was.

Liked Had the bestest experience! The site was clean spacious well managed. Shower and toilets kept clean and has use of washing machine and dryer. Lovely location. Went as a group of 4 families and all having kids it was important they could be free and feel safe! Beck was amazing! Lovely greetings, check on us everyday was very informative about area and places to visit. Always on the end of the phone if ever we had questions or needed help.
So nice to visit somewhere with such a lovely upbeat happy host. Lovely lady just her presence and attentiveness is definitely enough for us to feel welcomed back! Really enjoy our time! THANK YOU BECK!

Local attractions

Hartland Abbey is five minutes’ drive away from the site for relaxed roams around an old historical structure, although the rides of The Milky Way Adventure Park (10 minutes) could be a better option if you’re looking for entertainment for the kids… Younger members of your group may also be less keen on peering at the work in the Burton Art Gallery and Museum (25 minutes), which has lots of local crafts on display, but are sure to appreciate bucket and spade times at the sandy beach of Westward Ho! half an hour’s drive away. You might also be able to convince them into coming on morning jaunts to Northam Burrows Country Park (also 30 minutes) or birdwatching at the RSPB Isley Marsh (35 minutes) with the lure of an afternoon at The Big Sheep farm-themed amusement park (20 minutes).
