  • Luxurious ensuite geodomes on a South Hams working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Kingsbridge; 20 minutes to Dartmouth or Salcombe
  • Top-quality linen and gas barbecue provided; stunning views all around
A luxurious glamping pod and an equally fabulous location – a stay at Devon Dome Glamping really is a most enticing prospect. The accommodation here is something quite special: you’ll be staying in a geodesic dome with a huge window that means you can soak up the gorgeous views without needing to move from your bed. And it’s quite possible that you’ll want to linger in this bed for some time, as it’s a comfy kingsize number made up with top-quality Egyptian cotton bed linen and sumptuous fluffy pillows… Need a cup of tea to complete the picture? Perhaps even breakfast in bed? Sorted – the dome also houses a small kitchen area with a kettle, fridge, toaster and hot plate (plus all the essential crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils). Electricity sockets and USB chargers are available too, along with hot water bottles and an electric blanket for warmth. The private bathroom is just next door to the dome, with a flushing toilet, a hot-water shower and a washbasin. When you’re not luxuriating inside the dome, maybe you’d like to wander out for a closer look at those views – they’re some of the best in the South Hams, stretching out towards Dartmoor and often with a stunning sunset appearing some time around cocktail hour. To help you make the most of all this, the dome sits on a large deck that’s kitted out with a garden table and chairs and a gas-fired barbecue for alfresco cooking. If you can wrench yourselves away from this (and you should at least try…), it’s a 10-minute drive to Kingsbridge for shops and places to eat, and there are several gorgeous coastal spots within a 20-minute drive including Dartmouth, Bantham beach and Slapton Sands.

Local attractions

A trip to this part of the world usually means lots of time spent by the coast – and that’s easily done from this site, whether you’re planning beach time at places like Slapton Sands, Blackpool Sands and Bantham beach (all 20 minutes’ drive) or a trip to Dartmouth (20 minutes) for a trip to Agatha Christie’s former home Greenway, a paddle steamer cruise or a bit of sea kayaking. Christie was also a fan of Burgh Island (half an hour), where she wrote two of her novels – even if you’re not planning any literary activity, it’s worth a visit for a walk along the shoreline and a ride on the sea tractor. Salcombe (20 minutes) makes another good day out, visiting the gin distillery and Overbeck’s Garden. Turning inland, you can also reach Totnes or the southern stretches of Dartmoor National Park with a 20-minute drive.
