  • Eco-friendly off-grid site just outside Dartmoor National Park
  • A 20-minute drive from Haldon Forest Park; 35 minutes from the coast
  • Firepits and barbecues allowed; village pub and café a short walk away
Reedy Brook Meadow Campsite has quite the little wildlife haven going on just outside of Dartmoor National Park. With a brook bordering the site, wildflowers growing in patches and a pond, you’ll find a lot of biodiversity on site – and off site too, as there’s plenty more wildlife around Dartmoor’s trails or down by the sea (the closest beach is 35 minutes’ drive away from here). The site has pop-up facilities with portable toilets and a dishwashing area. It’s off-grid and quite remote (well-behaved dogs welcome), so there’s all the more time to dedicate to exploring the site’s river, woodland, fields, bog and pond – which stocks over 100 fish, plus frogs, toads and newts (bees, dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies are better found near the wildflowers). Phone charging, drinking water and recycling points are also provided. You’ll be able to sort your own barbecue and firepit here, as they’re both permitted. There’s a communal fridge to keep your food fresh – great for cracking open a cold one too, of course. You’ll be able to sip on some more easy refreshments in the nearby village. Dunsford, five minutes’ drive or 20 minutes’ walk away along your typical Devon farmland with animals and arable, there's a pub, eatery, post office and shop here. The B3212 is under half a mile away too – great to get cycling into Dartmoor or to head into Exeter. Otherwise, the bus route into Exeter stops in the village.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Wonderful, back to nature site. Basic facilities that add to its charm. Lovely site owner ,Derek, happy to help in any way he could. Provided lots of wood for our fire, and local information, nothing was too much trouble. Loved or firepit, which we cooked our burgers on and laughed when they fell into the fire! Had everything we needed to cook and store food/beers. Kids had a great time making bow and arrows and generally being able to be 'boys'. Huge, flat site to pitch our tents, with dappled shade Would reccomended to anyone who is looking for a true camping experience 😀

Best camp I've been to so far. Very peaceful.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Quiet environment. Sound of brook water in background to ease sleep and drown out a few other campers voices. Toilets fine. Available sink to wash cutlery. Under roof area to sit with chairs available if rains hard (as it did!). Not far from B3212 main road from M5 to Dartmoor.

Disliked Natural (cold water) shower would rarely be warm enough for use and wasn't a privacy around it yet. Needs a tap of water next to microwave and kettle.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The site was really beautiful and peaceful. There were lots of nooks and crannies for the children to explore. This was our first ever camping trip and we are so pleased we picked this site to stay on. Facilities were basic but everything we needed. There is a toilet, fridge and microwave on site as well as firewood to use.

It was a perfect stopover spot on our way to Cornwall. Tranquil…

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked It was a perfect stopover spot on our way to Cornwall. Tranquil site with some basic facilities. A kettle, toaster and microwave was a treat! The kids loved exploring the stream and it was excellent for star gazing.

Disliked The lack of a shower option would mean that one or two nights would be the max stay for me!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A lovely site in a tranquil setting. We were extra lucky in having the site to ourselves. Received a friendly welcome on arrival. It was a back to basics stay that we wanted and this is what we had. We are new to camping, this being our first camping experience. We also used public transport to get here and was about a half a mile walk from the bus stop which was fine.

Disliked Having to leave

Liked If you like real back to basics, a "honey pot" toilet and gravity fed shower and tranquility, this is the campsite for you. We will be returning and the dogs give it thumbs up too.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Our stay at Reedy Brook was delightful. I booked late and there was no problem with turning up after 10pm and leaving when we were ready the next day, giving a morning to enjoy the site. It was clean, peaceful and charming.
I look forward to a return visit.
