  • South West Coast Path five minutes’ walk; Salcombe 10 minutes’ drive
  • Spacious grass pitches with eco-showers; pubs five minutes’ walk
Time for a chilled outdoor adventure with the kids in Devon? The spectacular countryside of the South Devon National Landscape is yours to explore at Cove Camping, a family- and dog-friendly pop-up site 15 minutes’ drive from Kingsbridge and five minutes’ stroll from Hope Cove beaches. This small and relaxed campsite is set on a Devon working farm where sheep are your closest neighbours. You’ll have your own spacious pitch and access to simple eco-friendly facilities on the side of the field, including compost toilets, gas-heated showers, a washing-up station and a rubbish/recycling area. There’s also a mains-water supply that you can use. From the camping field (it has some inclines), you can discover gorgeous South Hams towns like sailing-mad Salcombe (10 minutes’ drive), access the South West Coast Path (five minutes’ walk) or head for Hope Cove (also five minutes) to languish on one of two beaches or have a recce around the village’s pubs and restaurants.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning coastal views and a peaceful atmosphere, just a short walk from Hope Cove and its amenities. Visitors praise the clean and well-maintained compost toilets and hot showers. While some found pitches a little close or the site exposed to wind, many highlight the friendly hosts and beautiful location for exploring the coast. Managers have addressed issues regarding shower temperatures and accessibility after rain.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked No frills, back to basics campsite with large pitches that one can freely choose. It is very reasonable priced. Lovely location and views. Clean, tidy and very functional - with compost loos, very warm showers. Great place for accessing this beautiful area of the country.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Absolutely love this beautiful pop up site. The showers are hot with great pressure, the composting toilets are kept clean, plenty of toilet roll etc. Alice and Rich are amazing hosts and visit the site multiple times a day, they are super friendly and keep the site well maintained, clean and tidy. The views are spectacular, which is why we've stayed twice in two weeks!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lots of toilets, hot water for washing up and the best bit is the amazing views! Easy to walk to the beach. Owners were great at refunding when I had over booked for the dog too! Will be back that’s for sure! We couldn’t get there early enough for the best spots but every pitch has a sea view of some sort which is amazing!

Local attractions

The kids will be spoiled at Cove Camping, for there’s a brace of sand-and-pebble beaches to choose from in Hope Cove, both within five minutes’ walk. Not content with two beaches? There’s a sandy expanse at South Milton (10 minutes’ drive) with a landmark rock arch just offshore, and a surf school and kayak hire at popular Bantham Beach (20 minutes), which attracts food trucks in the summer months to keep hungry families well fed. If you’re keen to get out on the South West Coast Path (five minutes’ walk), turn east for Bolt Tail’s Iron Age hill fort (20 minutes) and carry on for clifftop views over the English Channel from National Trust - Bolberry Down (50 minutes). There’s another National Trust property at Overbeck’s Garden (15 minutes’ drive), where you can amble among palm trees and peer over the spectacular Kingsbridge Estuary to Salcombe (10 minutes). A visit to this pretty waterside town turns up lots of indie shops, seafood bars overlooking the yacht harbour or rum and gin distilleries for tours and tastings.
