  • Quiet family-friendly Devon campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Woolacombe
  • Exmoor National Park 15 minutes’ drive and the Tarka Trail 20 minutes
  • Dog-walking area; easy access to footpaths, a pub and public transport
Surfers, walkers and cyclists listen up… staying at Little Shelfin Farm Camping puts you in pole position for the breaks off Woolacombe Beach (10 minutes’ drive), long-distance hiking on the Tarka Trail (20 minutes) and a mere 15 minutes by car from the cycling routes in Exmoor National Park. There’s plenty more that’s good about this small and quiet family-run campsite. Set on an 80-acre working farm, the spacious pitches have plenty of room between them, with room for awnings and cars, and are on a large field with wide-open spaces so kids can have a run around. Dogs are welcomed here as well, and there’s a small run dedicated to canine exercise (please pick up after them though). You have direct access to several public footpaths from the camping field (the dogs will be pleased to get extra walkies), and there’s a bus to Woolacombe within 10 minutes’ stroll. A pub serving pizzas, steaks and fries all day is about the same distance away at Mullacott.

Electric grass pitch

Liked I liked the small setting of the site and the location was ideal to get to local amenities. Cheap, £26 per night peak season and dog friendly. The pitches are really flat, which a big bonus. You can have camp fires and bbqs but obviously not if it’s dry weather and the grass is like tinder. No wifi??? And no you can’t use your phone hotspot

Disliked I disliked the main road running by the side of the campsite which sounded like the M5, so it’s not very peaceful. This ceases about midnight. So you can sleep. The access road is in a bit of a state so watch your alloys with the potholes. There are no signs to highlight dog walks, or where you can walk, all the gates are chained up so difficult to access with your dog. No meet and greet on arrival, noisy campers I had to tell them to shut up. The toilets and showers were fit for use, but they need a good clean before and after people shower. No hand drying facilities or electric for hair dryers etc. the gate is not shut at night so security is a bit rubbish, however nothing eventful happened during my stay.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Not too busy, spacious plots, friendly staff. Ideal shower facilities.
Great for my dog. She had space to roam without too many other dogs around.

Disliked No where to walk to as campsite is off a very busy road.We had a camper with attached canopy, so once set up, couldn't go anywhere.
No shops on site so partner had to walk the dangerous route along the busy road to the next campsite which had a shop. It was a 10 minute walk, but very risky along that road. Would visit again, but only with detachable awning so we could leave the site in the van.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Small quiet camp, onsite toilets & shower block plus washing up facilities. Basic but very cheap compared to most other local camps.
Camp is set within a few minutes drive from both Ilfracombe and Coombe martin so perfect location.

Disliked Set shower temperatures, although probably great for most personally found them quite hot especially for the younger ones.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nice campsite and clean, quiet location. Had all the facilities we needed their including the electric hook up and showers. The pitch was plenty of room for the side tent. 10 min drive to Ilfracombe, would definitely visit again. It was good for the dogs and dog friendly.

Disliked Was no one to great you as your arrived, so was unsure what to do when we got their. I could not connect to the Wi-Fi as the camp site said Wi-Fi was available on site.
