From the manager: Good morning. Thank you for your review. It appears you could not understand why we need a time table. This is a small working farm a multitude of tasks to cover and animals to care for . Along side this we have a restaurant plus the glamping and camping to run. Our camp site is here for all to enjoy but we do need time for all the work that Bovey's Down creates. Our checking in times are clearly pointed out on the pitch up web page and your booking details. This enables for all things to happen smoothly. We emailed you the day before your arrival as you had an eta error of 11am as assumed you had over looked reading the booking details. This would eliminate any surprises on arrival giving you the chance to enjoy being somewhere in the area & booking in when the 4 hour check in was open, remembering at that point to ask for WIFI password. The very few early arrivals follow the signs to the overspill cark park and enjoy, or come back this avoids blocking the system, particularly peek times. Farming and camping for us is 7 days a week so being organised is important. Gerald and Pam Owners and managers of Bovey's Down Farm

Liked: The site was beautiful, very relaxing, good honest rustic camping, good amenities and Pam and Gerald are a lovely down to earth couple. We had a delicious Sunday roast all home cooked with a traditional desert. Prices very reasonable and the service couldn't have been better. Very charming rustic working farm as you would expect. Plenty of water sites with electric hook ups . Close to the local town and supermarket and also the beaches and of course the beautiful countryside. Nature reserve just down the road and a local pub 5 minutes away. Very dog friendly.

Liked: We had the site pretty much to ourselves so it was incredibly peaceful. Had a lovely welcome from the hosts with all the instructions on where to pitch and where all the facilities were. The site is easy to find not to far of the beaten track but rural enough to feel like you’re miles from anywhere. Toilets and showers are clean and tidy with plenty of hot water (even if the water pressure is not great).
Disliked: Unfortunately the drainage in the showers is rather slow so you end up standing in a little puddle towards the end. Water pressure is low.

From the manager: Good morning . Thank you for camping here at Boveys Down and now well rested. The water is from our own spring & well which is pumped 200m up the hill into storage ( filtered and UV in the system) It will always be lower pressure than perhaps you are used to if on a mains supply. I will get the team to pressure wash the shower outlets to hopefully improve drainage. We have to regularly do this as gets clogged up with frequent use. We look forward to seeing you here again and maybe you could get the chance to enjoy what else is here in the Swallows Rest. Gerald & Pam.

Liked: The view is absolutely stunning! As soon as you turn to drive onto the site the view just reminds you that you are on holiday! The pitch is quiet and large enough for children to play. The rope swing was a big hit. Such a warm welcome and a lovely time away. Loo blocks are lovely and clean and stocked well. All in all a lovely site.
Disliked: We were on a slope, understandable with the view, and the kids did slide down a bit over night on their camp beds. But we could have perhaps pitched out tent differently to negate this but once it was up it was up
