  • Dog-friendly fishing holidays with 3 lakes in 5 acres of rural Devon
  • Bude beaches of Summerleaze and Widemouth Bay both within 10 miles
  • Coarse fishing suitable for all levels with huge fish to land

Tinney Waters is a fishing and family holiday site set on five acres of peaceful and scenic countryside in north Devon, with mobile homes fully refurbished in 2018.

The three well-stocked lakes have mirror, crucian and common carp as well as some koi and ghost carp, and roach, bream, rudd, tench and perch. New platforms were added in 2018, with the top lake being the most accessible.

The site is 15 minutes' drive from the centre of Holsworthy, north of the River Tamar and on the Devon/Cornwall border. The Cornwall and Bude beaches of Summerleaze and Widemouth Bay are both within 10 miles; both are dog friendly.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site, and there's wifi.

Please be aware that the mobile homes are overlooking the lakes, so the owners recommend that small children are carefully supervised at all times.

Everything really - the location was beautiful, the caravan was spacious, the lakes were well stocked and only a 30 second walk from the caravan. Good WiFi connection and fast internet access. Sally and Mike were very friendly (although perhaps bested in friendliness by Pickle and Lilly their two dogs who invited themselves to our caravan every day and evening and who our 9 year old instantly fell in love with!)

Well, there were only two things on the negative side and neither were the fault of the owners. First - at the time of our arrival England was only just coming out of lock-down and as a result local pubs and restaurants weren't available. The second negative was our choice of week - a rainy week sandwiched between two weeks of glorious sunshine!
Neither of these put much of a dampener on our short break though to be honest.

From the manager...

Thank you so much for your lovely review - shame about the virtually incessant rain! The girls miss you :)

Local attractions

The closest beach is Widemouth Sands just outside Bude, 20 minutes' drive from Tinney Waters; the Bude beaches of Crooklet and Summerleaze are slightly further at just under half an hour away. All (and most of the other beaches arouund the Cornwall and Devon coasts) are spectacular spots for watersports, beach idling (and pasty sampling), and accessing the lush landscape of the mighty South West Coast Path.

If you're heading out to hike, drive along to Bude to access the path for a strenuous scramble of just under 10 miles to Crackington Haven, via Widemouth Bay and Phillip’s Point (look down to spot seals from here). In the other direction, take the even more energetic path to Hartland Quay, running for 15 and a bit miles from Bude past St Catherine’s Tor, stunning views from Steeple Point and a gorgeous beach at Duckpool (look out for glow worms if you're around Duckpool at night).

Top Cornwall attractions by car include Boscastle and Tintagel, 35 and 45 minutes away; heading north back into Devon, the splendid cobbled town of Clovelly is within 40 minutes' drive. And if you're firmly here for a Devon fishing holiday so seeking yet more angling? Try rudd, roach, bream and carp fishing from Bude Canal: pick up a day pass from the Bude Canal Angling Club at the Bude post office.
