  • Pet-friendly park on the Devon/Cornwall border near Holsworthy
  • 20 minutes' drive from the beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay
  • Bar-restaurant open several nights a week in high season
Dog owners – cast an eye towards your pet. Do they look like they might be in need of a holiday? (Safe to guess that snuffle/bark/twitch means ‘yes please’.) Perhaps somewhere with pet-friendly features including a doggy exercise area, surrounded by farmland and forests to scamper around and with some fab beach action just a few miles away? Humanfolk (accompanying the canines or just roaming on their own) are most welcome at Lufflands Caravan Park, too. This friendly, peaceful park is close to the Devon/Cornwall border, 10 minutes’ drive from the market town of Holsworthy and 20 minutes from the beaches of Bude and Widemouth Bay. Fishing, golf, walks, bike rides and surfing are all within easy reach of here, as are all sorts of day trips including Tintagel Castle, The Milky Way Adventure Park and Westward Ho! (the only UK town with a punctuation mark in its official name, fact fiends). Back at base, you can ease your way into the evening at the cosy bar, open up to three nights a week in high season as well as on weekends and one night midweek during September, to furnish guests with drinks and meals to eat in or take away. For eats at other times there’s a fab farm shop a few minutes’ drive away and supermarkets in Holsworthy, and you can also pick up various essentials at the site’s grocery store in high season.

Acorn 1 electric gravel motorhome pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Lovely, dog friendly little site. With the best toilet block I’ve seen on a campsite! The bar was lovely, it was like being at your local with friends! Delicious food too… our dogs loved it as they kept getting lots of fuss and biscuits from behind the bar (thanks from Jazzy and Wilson!) The pitch was plenty big enough for our camper and awning which is good. The location was great, not too far from Bude which is our favourite place to be 🙂 Will definitely come back!

Willow 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Good location, clean facilities, friendly staff, quite throughout the day, I liked they had a dvd/book swap library, information pack in caravan was useful especially pet information, upon arrival there were some homemade treats not only for us but also for the dog.

Disliked: My only issue was they was doing works rights outside our caravan and right up towards the path to our caravan although this did only cause minor inconvenience, would have been nice if there was a play area for the kids as we was out during the days this wasn’t huge issue it would have just round the facilities up

Acorn 1 electric gravel motorhome pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked: Very quiet, clean site. Friendly greeting on arrival. Very nice toilets and showers.

Disliked: A little disappointed the games room and restaurant wasn't open, but I think the opening times could be made a bit clearer on pitch up site.

Ash 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay. The park is clean and tidy and well maintained. It welcomes dogs and has a designated field to walk the dog. The caravans are clean and well-kept with all the amenities that can be expected with nothing else needed. The site is easily located with good access and parking. A shop is onsite provided by the owners, it doesn't have bells and whistles however, if you're looking to do cloths wash then washing gel is available to buy. The washing facilities are perfect for needs, a good washing load can be done in one go, with a dryer available to. Also, if the dog needs a wash down a dog shower can be located to the side of the wash house. A good place to explore Devon and Cornwall from with some stunning countryside and coastal views. Plenty of English Heritage and National Trust sites to visit, I would recommend a membership with one or both, this will give free entry and parking on all if not most sites. Tesco, Morrisons, and Asda are located in Bideford however, a short trip to Holsworthy can be found a co-op. If you are looking for a peaceful sleep with quiet and comfortable accommodation together with plenty to do, then this is the place to book. Many thanks to our hosts who were both pleasant and helpful making our weeks stay perfect.

Birch 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Lovely clean site, quiet and peaceful. Very friendly and helpful owners, everything you need was at hand for a nice relaxing break, close to Bude (20 mins), and the coast. The caravan(mobile home) that we rented was very clean, well equipped and faultless. Shop, bar, food all on site. Recommended highly.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Local attractions

The beaches, oh the beaches – this part of the world is full of ‘em. Bude (20 minutes away) and Widemouth Bay (half an hour or so) are particularly famed for their surfing, and there are plenty of more sheltered spots for those who’d prefer simply to paddle, plus surf lessons in Bude for wannabe wave-riders. More aqua-based activity can be had with windsurfing, canoeing and sailing at the watersports centre on Upper Tamar Lake, or fishing at Wooda Lakes. Those who’d prefer to keep their feet firmly on dry land, ta very much, have a choice of three golf courses within 10 miles. For day-tripping, it’s about a 50-minute drive to the seafront Tintagel Castle, or half an hour to Hartland Abbey with its gorgeous walled gardens. If you've got kids in tow, The Milky Way Adventure Park is about half an hour's drive away – there are some great rides here and the sizeable indoor play area makes it a fab rainy-day option too. Next door there is also an animal charity called Donley Haven, where you can visit the rescue donkeys or book dog hydrotherapy. Speak to site staff for more details.
