Glamping Lane End: Deck area for outdoor dining

General

  • Peaceful rural glamping site 20 minutes' drive from Holsworthy
  • A 15-minute drive from coast path; 20 from north Devon beaches
  • Dog-friendly shepherd's huts with mini kitchen, heating and barbecue

Craving an outdoor hol but don’t want to stay under canvas? Enter a nifty solution: the smart shepherd’s huts at Glamping Lane End, a spacious and family-friendly site in a peaceful part of rural north Devon.

The accommodation here is fully insulated, with underfloor heating to keep things toasty whatever the weather, and each unit is kitted out with a mini kitchen (including a small fridge, kettle and electric points) plus a barbecue area for getting grub on the go. A short stroll away is a purpose-built bathroom block with a shower, toilet and washing-up area.

Campfires being an essential part of outdoor adventures, they’re welcome here at the communal firepit, and logs can be purchased on site so there’s no need to lug them along with you (in fact, as so many things are sorted here, you just need to deal with bedding, towels, food and those little touches that make your world complete. Curlers, teddy bear, comfy slippers… whatever makes you feel at home).

Dogs can come along for the ride too – there’s a small wooded area close to the huts where they can be let off the leash to do their thing; please keep them on a lead and under control elsewhere around the site, though, and don’t let them get their paws on the soft furnishings.

Folk planning to see the area from the saddle might like to head out for bike rides nearby on the Tarka Trail and Ruby Trail; walkers, meanwhile, can access the South West Coast Path around 15 minutes’ drive away.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Really great visit. Hired one of their Shepard's huts for a bit of glamping. I was really impressed with the site, location, facilities and accommodation. The hut was clean and had the basics such as fridge, kettle, plates, cutlery etc. It was warm and dry, in fact it was very comfortable. There is decking outside with seating and a gas powered BBQ. Toilet and dish washing facilities were just a few metres away. Parking was not too far, and I was able to ride up to the hut to off load before parking. I look forward to visiting again.

    Disliked:

My only item for the wish list is to have a tarmac roadway rather than the stone as it was very difficult to ride my motorcycle on.

The campsite was beautifully kept and the enclosed woodland area was perfect to let my dog have a little leg stretch off lead. The owners were super friendly and the site wasn't at all crowded so everyone was able to enjoy a part of the relaxing and colourful outdoor space. The toilet and washing up facilities were just a few metres away so I was able to leave my dog outside the hut but still with full visibility so she didn't get upset.

    Disliked:

I really didn't experience any dislikes of this place and am actually hoping to book again for another long weekend before the winter sets in!

Loved the spacious, clean and tidy Shepard’s hut and facilities. The grass was neatly cut and the bathroom was so near and convenient. The log fire was ideal and we spent two evenings around it. The site really is dog friendly and remained clean and very quiet. Will be back! Thankyou

Loved the peaceful location. The pod was clean and warm. Great bbq provided. Would have liked an outside tap just for convenience. We had a lovely 2 night stay and would stay again without doubt.

    Disliked:

Our only minor dislike is the pod toilet and shower facilities. The doors do not lock. We understand that red mean occupied, but, other families and children on the site don’t as we found out. Was then very reluctant to shower. Locks PLEASE!
