  • Peaceful woodland in a sheltered north Devon location
  • Close to the A3072; a quarter of an hour's drive from Bude
  • Low-impact forest floor campsite with no light pollution
If bivouacking between the trees has long been on your bucket list, you'll very likely want to book a stay at Eco Woodland Camping, a small forest campsite in a sheltered location in north Devon. Set on the edge of the rural parish of Pyworthy, this is a place that's all about peace, quiet and relaxation, allowing you to recharge your batteries or to spend time exploring the nearby Devon and Cornwall coast. Stargazing is likely to be on the cards at Eco Woodland Camping, as this rural site is in a rather remote area with very little light pollution. Combine that with a spot of twilight woodland walks or a barbecue and you've got yourself a rather cosy night in… Although it's hidden away among the trees, these forest floor pitches are within just a short drive of the A3072, making it easy to zip across the county and into Cornwall to Bude (15 minutes' drive), where there are plenty of sandy beaches, quiet coves and cafés waiting for you. If you don't want to drive quite that far for amenities, Pyworthy's village pub is a little under a mile away, while Holsworthy's supermarket, petrol station and takeaways can be nipped to in roughly five minutes.

Local attractions

If a Devon trip means days on the beach, Eco Woodland Camping should leave you more than satisfied. This site is only about eight miles inland, so getting to the nearest stretch of sand in Bude (15 minutes' drive) or other well-liked beaches like Sandymouth Bay (20 minutes) simply won't be an issue. Being on the border between Devon and Cornwall means there's a lot of variety in terms of seaside spots, so whether it's surfing, sandcastle building or walking the South West Coast Path, you'll find it's within reach here. Bude isn't the only coastal resort you should consider calling in at – it's a scenic drive up the coast to the famously pretty village of Clovelly (30 minutes), while in the other direction you have Tintagel and its castle (45 minutes) to get stuck into. For a break from the (sometimes busy) coast, head inland for other family-friendly things to do. Pick your own fruit and veg at the farm shop in Lifton (25 minutes), be immersed by old-fashioned rides at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre (30 minutes) or fill your lungs with fresh floral fragrances at RHS Garden Rosemoor (35 minutes).
