Playground

  • Valley site among mature trees and landscaped ponds
  • A mile from Haldon Forest Park
  • Playground and modern toilet and shower blocks
Pitching up in the River Kenn valley, on a park surrounded by Devon woodland and countryside, with mature trees and landscaped ponds complete with resident ducks… does this sound like it might fit the bill? If so, take your flock to Haldon Forest Holiday Park, five miles from Exeter and just a mile from the woodland and bike trails of the 3500-acre Haldon Forest Park. Haldon Forest has a playground on the park for kids to go out on a limb under the watchful eye of more mature types. The site also has up to date laundry facilities, plus three modern toilet and shower blocks with heating and free hot water. All in all, you’ll surely find this park all that it’s quacked up to be…

What customers say

Spacious pitches and a friendly welcome are highlights, with many praising the peaceful rural setting and proximity to Haldon Forest. The children's play area and football pitch are popular. However, feedback indicates the site is looking tired, with some facilities needing maintenance and cleaning, particularly the toilets and showers, which are also noted for weak water pressure. The closure of the on-site shop and bar has also been a recurring disappointment for many.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely campsite, with well marked pitches. Shower and toilets were good, you can change the temperature of the shower. Well laid out site. Fantastic location, in the countryside but 10 mins drive from Exeter, 5 min drive from A38, close to Dawlish and Teignmouth towns and beaches and on the edge of Dartmoor.

Disliked No on site shop

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Loved how they took my requests on board and placed us where we needed. Was a lovely clean, quiet and VERY spacious site!

Disliked Be nice to have a Resteraunt on site or bar with entertainment but obviously some people don’t like this so I understand. We had a last minute booking so was random but it was beautiful !!

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Not alot to be honest.

Disliked For the price of this site it's very lacking. Toilets and showers were not cleaned over my 2 night stay. Pitches are all unlevel. I've stayed at places for 15 per night with better facilities.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Campeggio essenziale, con piazzole molto ampie alcune con acqua e ombreggiate, altre in pieno sole. Pulito.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Fab time as always. Park so great, bits were being fixed while there so good to know they keep an eye on it. Washing facilities fine. I like this site because generally it's a quiet site.

Disliked Only negative I can think of is your not given any kind of contact number or information when you check in. One evening after the "quiet hours" had started there was a pitch that was excessively loud, vehicle engines on, screaming, shouting, headlights on well into the early hours. Would have been nice to have had a contact number to call to ask them to come and speak to them re the quiet hours rule.

Electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Local attractions

Bring the bikes to Devon or hire wheels at Haldon Forest Park to take full advantage of the miles of woodland mountain bike and cycle trails for various levels of ability. Discovery trails, play equipment and several walking trails are also in the forest park including the circular Butterfly Trail and the easy-rated Mamhead Sensory Trail with gorgeous views along the Jurassic Coast and over the Exe estuary. A ten mile horse riding trail is also around for more relaxed forest sightseeing, with horse riding of a different type at the forest’s Exeter Racecourse. Dartmoor National Park, with more hacking, hiking and biking as well as tor climbing, guided walks and geocaching, is a short drive from the holiday park. It has regular events throughout the year, towns and villages to take in, the famous Dartmoor ponies to spot and Dartmoor Zoo with meerkats, monkeys, lions and more. Bring binoculars along with the bikes: the forest park and surrounding area are wildlife havens, with rare birds of prey and wild deer in the forest itself and birdwatching a few miles away at the Site of Special Scientific Interest the Exe Estuary: watch oystercatchers showing excellent culinary taste in breaking open mussels at Bull Hill or take a trip to the nature reserve at Dawlish Warren at the estuary’s mouth. If you’re bringing along the bikes, the National Cycle Network Exe Estuary Trail runs to Exmouth from Dawlish. The sublime sand of Dawlish Warren is one of several South Devon sandy stretches, with the beaches at Teignmouth, Exmouth and Torbay within easy distance of Haldon Forest and the coastal towns of Torquay and Paignton a little further along the coast. Exmouth is the place to don the wetsuit as it’s known for watery sports of all types including diving, windsurfing and sailing; it’s also a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Finally, a stay at Haldon Forest has to include a day or two in Exeter to see its twelfth century cathedral, medieval Guildhall and famous historic quayside with antique shops, restaurants, canoe and boat trips and events such as dragon boat racing and guided tours.
