Welcome to Blackdown Yurts – eco-friendly yurt holidays deep in the heart of Devon’s beautiful, rural countryside. Tucked away in a tranquil valley amidst the rolling fields and leafy woodlands of the Blackdown Hills enjoy a haven from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Set within 30 acres on a smallholding between Exeter and Honiton, each authentic Mongolian yurt is tucked away in its own secluded spot, with plenty of space to explore and unwind. Providing a glamorous alternative to roughing it in a tent, the yurts are furnished with an eclectic blend of rustic and ethnic furniture. Thick Kilim rugs, fluffy sheepskins, plump cushions, a log burner and organic bed linen ensure your stay will be a comfortable one.
With spring water on tap, solar electricity and composting toilets, your yurt holidays will also be as eco-friendly as possible. Enjoy the food and drink at one the excellent local pubs or restaurants. Or why not just breathe in the fresh country air and relax into a new rhythm of life, free from televisions, computers and telephones.
As the day draws to an end and the sun gives way to solar lamps and lanterns, light the barbecue or use your own field kitchen to prepare a meal to be enjoyed around a roaring outdoor fire under the stars.
So whether you are looking for the ultimate glamping experience, a romantic getaway or just a fun break away with your family you can find everything you need at Blackdown Yurts.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

Blackdown Yurts is situated on the outskirts of Kentisbeare village near Cullompton, Devon. With close links to the M5 and the A30/A303 it’s really easy to get yourself to the Blackdown Hills without too much fuss. There are great public transport links in the area with Tiverton Parkway train station just 15 minutes away and National Express coaches coming into nearby Tiverton and Exeter.
From the M5:
Leave the M5 at Junction 28 and follow the signs to Honiton along the A373 (left, if travelling south on the M5 or right and around the roundabout if travelling north). Go along the A373 for approximately two miles and turn left at ‘Post Cross’ which is signposted left to Kentisbeare and Blackborough. Continue straight and after another half-mile the road will dip downhill into the village of Kentisbeare.
In Kentisbeare turn right as you reach the Post Office and village shop on your right and the pub (The Wyndam Arms) on your left. Continue through the village and out the other side, the road straightens and after a few hundred yards bends to the left at which point there is a right turn. Take the right turn and continue along this road for about half a mile until you reach a crossroads. Turn left at the crossroads, after 150 yards take the next right-hand turn. Follow this up and then down the hill and after 300 yards you will reach a farm on your left and the driveway for Blackdown Yurts on your right.
From the A303:
Leave the A303 at Honiton and drive along the High Street through the town. As you pass the Job Centre on your left the road splits into two lanes. Take the right-hand lane at the lights and turn right signposted for the Magistrates court. You are now on the A373 to Cullompton, follow this road for approximately 6 miles. Just after the village of Dulford you will pass the Keepers Cottage Pub on your left hand side, take the next turning on your right at ‘Post Cross’ which is signposted left to Kentisbeare and Blackborough. Continue straight and after another half-mile the road will dip downhill into the village of Kentisbeare. From there, follow as above.
The site is set in a beautiful valley between the villages of Blackborough and Kentisbeare in The Blackdown Hills. A popular holiday destination, it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching from Wellington to Honiton and Membury. The Blackdown Hills are a hidden gem often overlooked by people who escape to Dartmoor, Exmoor or to the Cornish coast. Tucked inbetween the M5, M4 and A303 routes into the west country the area is also easily-accessed from all over the UK.
By day, hundreds of footpaths, river banks, ancient woodland, villages and churches are just waiting to be explored. Ask onsite for maps and plenty of helpful suggestions. The area provides a wonderful opportunity for walking, cycling and horse riding. There are plenty of excellent places to eat and drink locally, the owners are happy to share some of their favourite pubs and restaurants with you.
