  • Adults-only self-catering glamping site in the north Devon countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Exmoor and 35 minutes from Saunton Sands
  • Peaceful valley setting with great sunsets and stargazing
Lower Birch Farmhouse is set in 10 acres of pastureland and gardens in a peaceful North Devon valley. If sunsets and stargazing are your jam, you’re sure to like things here… and if you’re also pining for time on the wild coves of the north Devon coastline or in the wilds of Exmoor, that’ll be yet another two ticks in your boxes. Surfboards waxed and ready for action? Handily, the surfing beaches of Saunton Sands (35 minutes’ drive), Woolacombe beach (40 minutes) and Croyde beach (45 minutes) are easy enough to get to. If your hiking boots are the first thing you’re reaching for, then head to the Exmoor National Park, which begins around 10 minutes’ drive away from the farmhouse. Walks like the Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon and the famed Lorna Doone Valley might tempt you, or the route from Woody Bay to Heddon’s Mouth with a stunning pub, cliffs, waterfalls, woods and peacocks (watch out) to see on the route. Lower Birch Farmhouse is half an hour’s drive from Ilfracombe too, where there are Victorian tunnels, beaches, an aquarium, views towards the Great Hangman cliff and more than one opportunity to taste a Devon crab sandwich. On either side of the estuary, there are excellent pubs in Instow (half an hour) and Appledore (35 minutes) as well as walks along the South West Coast Path for a post-lunch stroll.
