Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site has basic facilities but it’s clean and has plenty of hot water. The pitches are really big so plenty of space plus it is so peaceful. There is also a grassed picnic area so you can eat away from home if you want to. Emma & Tony are on hand if you need them , otherwise they just leave you to enjoy.

Disliked: We didn’t read the details so no public transport nearby or wi-fi, but in certain spots you can get a signal on your phone. With a motorhome we couldn’t just park up & go out. Like many councils Dorset is not motorhome friendly it’s difficult to park up. Axminster just 4 miles away does do cheap parking, so we went there everyday parked up & caught buses all over the place, so still had fun.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A lovely, peaceful, chilled weekend - exactly what we needed! We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. The owners are so friendly and gave great information like closest dog walks and where to eat. This campsite is a small, friendly place with no frills but just chill, clean and safe. If you’re looking for a great location near some fab beaches and a nice chill base to come back to, this is the campsite for you.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The location was fantastic. The site was easy to find with good access. Very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of lovely dog walks through fields. The owners were so friendly and helpful. Gave us lots of information about the visiting wildlife and local places to visit. The pitch size was amazing and flat. It was lovely having water to the pitch. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean. No WiFi but the mobile signal is good. The pretty village of Hawkchurch is about 30 minutes walk away and has a nice pub and a village community shop. Its about a10 minute drive to Lyme Regis and Charmouth. The site is very dog friendly and all touring units had dogs while we were there. This is such a relaxing little site and probably the best site we have visited. Fantastic value for money and as it's open all year we will definitely be visiting again.

Liked: We booked an 8 night stay and absolutely loved it! The owners were very welcoming. We were given a pitch near the park which was perfect for our children. Facilities were always clean and tidy. The site is well maintained, it’s lovely and quiet and the pitches are huge. We will stay here again.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The pitches are level and hardstanding. The pitch size is amazing. Each pitch has its own water supply. There are onsite showers and toilets which are kept clean and maintained . There are swings at the one end of the park and a climbing frame. Plus a nice area to take your dogs. The park is clean and tidy. The owners are friendly and very helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The area

Disliked: Shower and toilet facilities were basic and not overly modern need new locks fitting on all doors as too tight to lock bathrooms aren’t cleaned very well with dirty sinks and shower floors regularly bins overflowing and dirty mop available with black water to clean showers after use.lost power a few times due to top up electric card running out as we used a small heater at night sometimes owner did apologise

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Helen, we have been waiting for your review ! lets see why,,,, dirty sinks - showers and toilets as you are well aware are deep cleaned without fail on a daily basis.... overflowing bins? if you are referring to the large waste skip, then yes by tuesday it was over full and was cleared by 9am by our refuse contractors... so wasn't left was it ? you used £20 of electric over 2 nights which is almost an impossibility and I apologised for it running out - now lets get to the truth on your stay shall we...... you booked a trailer tent with 1 car - by the end of your arrival day there was 4 cars on your pitch ?? you had visitors just turn up without firstly asking if it was ok and not informing us that extra people staying of which i asked you due to fire regulations needing to know who was on the park - the majority of parks would have charged for extra cars and visitors staying. there is a clear speed limit of 5mph on the park for safety of children and other guests... didn't do that though did you... when asked to do the speed limit your husband got very confrontational and when asked what he would do if it was one of your children-his answer "depends what they were doing, it would serve them right " ! not really the answer expected and obviously don't care for others around you .... no thought for other guests around you, that witnessed your husbands outburst and were disgusted by the behaviour and senseless driving while their children were watching on too. so please sit back and think how you treat where and who you are staying with, with a bit more respect without trying to make a park look bad with false allegations and your actions spoiling it for yourselves. thank you again

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The large pitches are great for caravan and awning and parking your car alongside.

Disliked: The site is very tired and needs a good overhaul, the shower blocks were poor with broken toilet seats and it never seemed very clean. The chemical toilet waste area was very poor and difficult to use especially if you had any disability. The washing up area was very poor with not much hot water available to wash anything.

From the manager: Good morning Martyn - no need to be anonymous ! thank you for all of your comments ! I am sorry you feel the need to be like this when you gave opposite opinions whilst on the park ? to address your concerns : the toilets , no broken seats? they are deep cleaned every day of which you stood chatting watching me do them ! i do agree we have had a lot of grass and mud in them from where the children have been playing on the field and its travelled with them ... but that is to be expected when there was 11 children on the park at the time of your stay. the washing up area - there is constant hot water ? the chemical waste area - if you had a problem using it, you could have asked us to help you and we would have gladly helped you ? I spoke at length with you on several occasions, saying how you loved it here and you could have quite easily brought your concerns and showed me.

Instead, please follow the directions to Axminster and join the A35. Turn left on to A35 towards Dorchester. You will see the Hunters Lodge pub on the right-hand side. Directly on your left will be Crewkerne Road. Take this road and follow it for approximately two miles to Hawchurch, then take the turning to Wareham. The site is the second site on the right.

Local attractions

First stop: Jurassic Coast (presumably). Start off in Lyme Regis (10 minutes’ drive) for an aquarium, mackerel fishing trips and fossil walks, then head over to Charmouth (10 minutes) to try out your new fossil-hunting skills to see if you can unearth your own prehistoric prize. Non-tippling outings might include Axe Valley Wildlife Park (10 minutes) or Haynes International Motor Museum (40 minutes).
