Far View: Pitch area

General

  • Peaceful farm site on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula
  • Less than a mile from Mullion Cove and eight miles from Helston
  • A 15-minute walk to pubs, a chocolate factory and the village shop

What makes the Lizard Peninsula tick? Some point to its location as the most south-westerly point in Britain. For others, it's the vibrant local rocks (dark green in colour, veined with white and red). Whatever brings you here, the spectacular sunsets, comely coves and rural vistas certainly don't hurt…

Located on the outskirts of Mullion, Far View is true to its name: the vistas are all about the greenery that stretches out for miles around. Fancy mixing up coast and country? With Mullion Cove under a mile away from base, this spot is handily placed for easy access to both.

Guests have five acres of Cornish meadow to pitch up in, with essentials such as toilets and showers taken care of on site. Human visitors share Far View with a number of permanent guests, including miniature horses, donkeys and goats. Dogs are welcome, but please bear in mind the presence of furry live-in residents if you bring them along.

A 15-minute stroll takes guests up to Mullion village centre, which has two pubs, a village shop, a fish and chip shop and (this being Kernow) a pasty shop. There's also a chocolate factory that can be reached within 10 minutes on foot: no oompa-loompas here, but there's plenty of scope to make friends with the in-house team of llamas.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Guests must bring their own duvets, pillows, sheets and towels when staying in rental accommodation. You will not be allowed to stay if you do not bring these items.

Owing to government regulations, groups of 6 or more people are not permitted.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Minimum spacing of 5 metres between pitches.

Please be advised that charging facilities are available on site where the 5 fridge freezers are, it's most unfortunate that you couldn't locate them.

Lovely quiet and spacious campsite. Gorgeous views of the sunsets over the sea in the evening. Enough toilets and showers which are kept as clean.
The kids LOVED visiting the ponies, horses and donkey every morning and evening!
Jane is very accomodating and welcoming and will do all she can to make sure there are no problems.
The bell tent had everything we needed for our holiday including bbq, firepit, cooler and iceblocks (which can be refrozen in the communal fridge/freezers).
A quick 15 minute walk will bring you to Mullion Cove and Poldu Beach is only few minutes drive. Great for swimming!

    We had a lovely time!

We got this place very last minute and are so thankful we did - it was wonderful.
Fantastic views, every evening had a spectacular sunset and the stars were incredibly vivid too.
The site is clean, tidy and wonderfully flat - perfect for tents! And Jane is a wonderful host, always has a friendly hello and is quick to sort out any issues that may crop up - when the hot water went out she was on it within a few minutes.

Oh and the animals were adorable, it was lovely to have the opportunity to interact with them.

We have just arrived home from a lovely stay at this campsite. We were welcomed upon arrival and when our tent zip fell off we were given a choice of another tent immediately. There was a fire pit and bbq provided and coal and firewood included. If you ran out there is the option to buy more. The children loved the horses and amenities were kept clean, with things like toilet roll replaced daily. A beautiful place with stunning scenery close by. We would definitely return. Thank you Jane!

Local attractions

Mullion (15 minutes' walk) has activities such as swimming, canoeing, coasteering and surfing, and it's also possible to arrange horseback jaunts along the beach here. The well-signposted South West Coast path also skirts the village, and there's a swish spa in town for treatments should you overdo the exercise.

To the north, there are plenty of activities in and around Helston (20 minutes' drive). Find out about local customs at the Museum of Cornish Life, or head a few minutes out of town to Flambards Theme Park (20 minutes from base) for traditional fairground attractions and rollercoaster rides that should please those seeking sky-high thrills. A bus handily gets you from Far View to the theme park in about half an hour if you want to give the car a break.

To the east, green-fingered guests should make tracks to Trebah Garden (35 minutes), a 26-acre subtropical oasis with spectacular coastal backdrops. A little further east, Falmouth (40 minutes) has plenty to see and do as well, including the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII.
