  • Spacious pods on a peaceful Cornish farm 15 minutes’ drive from Looe
  • Cornish Orchards, Talland Bay and Hannafore Point 15 minutes’ drive
  • Gas hob, fridge, barbecue and secure garden for dogs at each pod
If waking up to sunlight filtering through the trees sounds like something you’d enjoy, Old Lanwarnick is the Cornish base for you. At 15 minutes’ drive from seaside Looe, accommodation on this 34-acre farm site is in spacious glamping pods, each with a kingsize bed (all linens supplied) and up to two single or kids' blow-up mattresses (single bedding is for hire or you're welcome to bring your own). Each pod is laid out with its own dining area, cosy seating and an outdoor kitchen with a gas hob, fridge, kettle, pots, pans, cooking utensils, glasses, crockery and cutlery. A gas barbecue is also provided if you'd rather do some alfresco cooking before tucking in at your outdoor seating area with a table and chairs. Two loungers are also there, so recline with a drink after you're done eating and settle in to watch the sun dip below the horizon on clear nights (often later followed by a sky filled with stars). Covering other practicalities are exclusive-use showers right next to each pod on raised decking and a basket of logs with firelighters and kindling to use at the communal firepit area. Inside the pod, you also get little luxuries like a rechargeable hair dryer and rechargeable bedside lamps. Outside, the garden is fully secure for dogs. Whatever your holiday style, you, your family and any accompanying dogs will have lots to keep you busy. This is a peaceful farm with plenty of fresh air and countryside sounds, as well as a dog agility area on site. Spend time wandering through the valley, making friends with the alpacas, following woodland trails or simply getting lost in landscapes brimming with wildlife. When adventure calls, pack a picnic and head to the coast. There are several beaches within 20 minutes’ drive, including Looe, Hannafore and Samphire – the latter is handy for walking dogs.

Camping pod

Liked We stayed for 2 magical nights in the Wagtail pod. The pod was so spacious and literally has everything you need, BBQ fridge, hob, log fire. Bored games, beautiful bedding. It felt too luxurious to be glamping! The views over the countryside are so beautiful. The starry sky at night incredible. The alpacas are so cute. My daughters loved helping feed them everyday. The location is perfect, tucked in the countryside but close to the coast. The grounds are vast and peaceful. Vicky and Matt have created something so special. We can't wait to come back. Thanks so much for these memories. So grateful to have stumbled across this little gem. Don't have loads of pics as was too busy switching off and enjoying it all Xxx

From the manager: Thank you so much for your incredible review. Reading your kind words has absolutely made our day!

We're delighted that you had such a magical stay in Wagtail and that you found the pod both luxurious and well-equipped. We wanted to create a glamping experience that combines the beauty of being immersed in nature with the comfort of a boutique getaway, so it's wonderful to hear that it exceeded your expectations.

It makes us especially happy to know that your daughters enjoyed helping to feed the alpacas. Creating opportunities for families to connect with our animals and make lasting memories is one of the things we love most about what we do.

We're so pleased you were able to switch off, enjoy the peace and tranquillity, and take in the incredible countryside views and star-filled skies. Those moments are exactly what we hope every guest experiences during their stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments about us and for describing Old Lanwarnick as a "little gem"—that really means the world to us. We can't wait to welcome you and your family back for another magical escape and to make even more special memories together.

Great location, lovely facilities, peaceful trip.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to keep you occupied around Old Lanwarnick. Explore the woodland and countryside on foot, cycle safely in the quiet lanes or go birdwatching for plovers and oystercatchers at Hannafore Point (15 minutes’ drive). Up the pace a bit with watersports including bodyboarding and kayaking at Talland Bay (also 15 minutes), windsurfing at Polkerris (35 minutes) or catching consistent surfing waves off Fistral Beach in Newquay (45 minutes). Lovers of ancient history can drive to Duloe Stone Circle in 10 minutes; made of white quartz, it is one of Cornwall’s smallest prehistoric relics and dates back a whopping 4,000 years. There’s more heritage to soak up at Duloe’s St Cuby and St Leonard Church, with its unusual octagonal font carved with figures of dolphins and griffins. If you’d care to indulge in a tasting of local ciders and apple juices, head for Cornish Orchards (15 minutes); pick up artisan souvenirs such as chutneys and sauces from their farm shop. Gourmets may also like to test the top-notch seafood restaurants in Looe (also 15 minutes), where fish is bought straight from the boats every morning.
