Set on the gorgeous – and gorgeously peaceful – Roseland Peninsula in South Cornwall, Veryan Camping and Caravanning Club Site has phenomenal views across the Cornish countryside, with sandy beaches, soaring cliffs, pretty villages and cute hamlets all close by for days of family exploration and coastal adventures. Equally, there's plenty to keep you busy if you stay put on site. Entertainment facilities include the play area and a field for ball games; you can also go fishing or take four-legged guests on the designated dog walk. The tree-framed, secluded pitches are managed by the Camping and Caravanning Club, with both members and non-members welcome. Members benefit from a reduced rate, so please be sure to select the correct membership option on your booking. As with all Club sites, the amenities are pristine and well maintained. There’s a modern shower block with disabled access, a laundry room, washing-up sinks and a parent-and-baby room. You can stock up on food and snacks in the shop, while the information point offers all the sightseeing inspiration you could ever need – and the bus stop a few minutes’ walk away allows you to get to Truro easily.

What customers say

This is a well-organised and clean campsite with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff who create a welcoming atmosphere. Facilities, including showers and toilets, are consistently reported as spotless. While generally praised for its quiet and pleasant vibe, some guests noted the sanitary block's distance from certain pitches and that non-electric tent pitches may be more expensive for non-members.

Electric grass pitch (maximum 9 metres, sloping)

Liked Amenities where all present - hot showers, hot water clean facilities good consumer service, good location from Portloe

Disliked Very much leaning heavily on the caravan if community no dedicated non-electric grass pitches. Membership encouraged for best prices so a little expensive for non-members with a non-electric tent

Electric grass pitch (maximum 8 metres, sloping)

Liked The staff seemed as excited to be working there as we were to be staying there. Their friendliness and enthusiasm was infectious. We normally camp on slightly wilder ie scruffier sites but somehow this one managed to combine a high level of organisation with a relaxed vibe. We will be back!

Electric gravel pitch (maximum 8 metres)

Local attractions

As well as scenic sea-facing hiking along the South West Coast Path (five minutes’ drive), there are plenty of other activities on the oft-overlooked Roseland Peninsula. For days on the waves, you can be on Carne Beach in 10 minutes by car; with its shallow waters and gentle waves, this is a good spot for kids learning to swim. The surfers among you should turn to Cornwall’s north coast and Fistral Beach (40 minutes), where there are gear-hire shops and surfing schools. You can admire the abundant flora of the region at The Lost Gardens of Heligan (20 minutes), with its fabulously restored water gardens, woodland walks and sculpture trail, while National Trust - Trelissick Garden (half an hour) rewards a visit with riverside strolls and a fine Palladian mansion. One of the biggest attractions in the area is The Eden Project (half an hour), where a world of rare tropical and temperate plants thrive in soaring glass biomes. Another popular day trip is to the photogenic fishing port of St Mawes (20 minutes), where you can catch a ferry to Falmouth (40 minutes) to visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and dine out in stylish seafood restaurants.
