General

  • Clean, tidy, friendly and small site in southwest Cornwall
  • Easy drive to the Eden Project and National Maritime Museum Cornwall
  • Toilets, showers and undercover washing-up point on site

Old-school camping near the Cornish coast, with warm welcome, splendid setting and spankingly clean and modern amenities all await at Valley View Touring Park, a family-friendly and peaceful place in a walkers' paradise and wildlife haven.

Set in a central location near the old mining coast with St Agnes, Chapel Porth and the Great Flat Lode Trail, the park is well set for Cornwall holidays of active, attraction, city or coast. It's close to Truro for rainy days or shopping; has easy access to the boats, shops and maritime museum of Falmouth by Park & Ride or Park & Float; is near horse riding and fishing lakes, soft play and golfing, and is only a couple of miles from its nearest beach, the wide open expanse of Porthtowan. Perranporth and Newquay are also close by.

Valley View has pitches in a spacious and level field, up to date and clean toilets and showers, an undercover washing-up area, and a communal fridge/freezer for ice packs. A launderette was added for guests' use in 2016.

We like everything in this place.
We arrived one day earlier, because the campsite where we had pitch-up had flooded. We were warmly welcomed.
We definitely go back there next year.

Owner was friendly and made an effort to walk round everyday and speak to people. Pitch was large, there were 2 fridge freezers available for use as well as a washing machine and dryer (for a fee). Toilet and shower facilites were adequate and were cleaned and restocked morning and evening. Firepits and barbecues were allowed as long as they were off the ground.

We stayed at Vally View for 5 days, we had a lovely time in Cornwall.
The site is simple and small, but has just about everything you need.
Lovely sized family showers, which were very clean as was the toilets.
Fridge/freezer for everyone to use if needed. Washing and drying machines also available and indoor sinks for washing up which is great.
Another plus is it's close to most beaches including st.ives which was a great hit for us.
The owner and her daughter are very nice and welcoming, came round to check on us to make sure we was ok and settled in ok, also come round on our last night to say goodbye and thank you which was lovely.

    Disliked:

No dislikes, the only things we had minor issues with was not enough hooks for towels and maybe better shelves for clothes in the shower. But apart from that we had a lovely stay.

Very nice quiet site. Full of family's with young children when we visited which was great for us.
The site was clean. The toilets and showers were clean. With it being a small site didn't have to wait for a shower.
Claire was very welcoming and helpful.
We had use of fridges and washing up area which was a bonus too.

    Disliked:

Only one small dislike was lack of hand dryer in the toilets. Everything else was great.

Shame the toilets and shower in same block as not very pleasant sometimes to clean teeth etc! Grass needed a cut really.

Back to basics camping at a great price. 27/08/2017

Fantastic, back to basics, camping, Claire was lovely and couldn't be more helpful. She asked if we liked it quiet and we said we did. She advised us where to pitch and we had a lovely peaceful spot with plenty of room around us. Bearing in mind it was August and school holidays this was more than we had any right to expect.
The site is on a bit of a slope and levels towards the top. Our pitch was completely flat.
So, its a field, there's a little meadow at the top (where we were). There is a road behind it but it is a quiet road (more cyclists than cars). You can hear traffic drone from the A30 but it's not intrusive. The toilets and showers are functional and are cleaned daily (nice hot shower). Yes, they got grass walked in to them between cleans but you are camping in a field so it's to be expected. Two fridge freezers, a washer and a drier. £5 per wash £3 per dry. The coin operated meters only take old pound coins but if you just use the appliances anyway and give the money to Claire it's fine.
We were doing a 7 day "cram in as much of the highlights of Cornwall as you can" holiday. The location was perfect for that with everywhere we wanted to visit in easy driving distance.
If you want more than is listed above you will need to go somewhere else (and pay accordingly).
    We'll be back.

Directions

Chiverton Cross interchange/roundabout is the main connection for the A30. From here, west Cornwall or north Cornwall can be easily accessed. The site is approximately 1 mile from the roundabout.

There is also a local bus company taking customers into Truro, where trains can also be used for days out to Falmouth, St Ives, Plymouth.

Local attractions

You'll need a few weeks at least around Cornwall's coast, countryside and family attractions, whether you go north, south or see how far to the west you can hike along the South West Coast Path (Porthtowan to Portreath is a good start if you don't mind a few steep climbs along the way).

The Valley View Touring Park team knows the area well and has a pile of recommended days out for all tastes to try: for beaches, there's Porthtowan two miles away as well as Chapel Porth, Perranporth, Fistral, Newquay and Crantock; for horse riding, stables are in Redruth, Trenance and Newquay, and for teeing off, drive along to the Radnor Golf & Leisure course and driving range at Redruth.

Kidwise, soft play centres for toddlers are at Penryn and Truro, and all ages should squeal at the friendly critters and huge indoor play centre of Dairyland Farm World in Newquay.

Also recommended for family days are Newquay Zoo and the town's pools and flumes at WaterWorld, Flambards at Helston and the famed Eden Project just outside St Austell.

For peaceful and grownup pursuits, fishing lakes are near Newquay and bass and flatfish can be landed off the rocks at the end of Perranporth beach.
