Fully serviced hardstanding pitches

  • Flat level grass pitches with easy access from the A30
  • A mile from the surfing beach of Porthtowan
  • Adventure play area, swings, shop and games room
Small and friendly, family run and a mere mile from the first-rate Cornish beach of Porthtowan… this is a peaceful and well located place for Cornwall breaks. Porthtowan Tourist Park is in a quiet countryside setting, on the edge of Porthtowan village surrounded by fields and country lanes – but is only a couple of miles from the A30 and has easy access to Truro, Portreath, Tehidy Country Park and the South West Coast Path. This is an award-winning park, with modern facilities maintained to a high standard. There's a games room and adventure play area for leisurely times indoors or out; a tourist information room for plotting your next Cornish stopoff, and a food shop open daily – you'll be chuffed to hear that barbecues are allowed on site too... Among the well-kept amenities are a launderette, a washing-up area and a disabled-friendly toilet and shower block. Dogs are welcome on site.

Liked We had a lovely stay at this campsite. The grounds were clean, peaceful, and well-maintained, with good facilities and a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made us feel truly welcome.

We initially booked for one night but were so impressed that we ended up extending our stay by another night.

Disliked The only reason we’re giving 8 stars instead of 10 is because the main access road to the site was closed from 6:30 PM until the next morning, and unfortunately, the campsite didn’t inform us in advance. As a result, we had to take a detour. Google Maps led us down a very narrow lane, and our motorhome got scratched by overhanging branches.

It would have been great to receive a heads-up about the road closure ahead of time. Apart from that, everything else was excellent!

Liked Everything this was an amazing site. Great park, lovely field with tennis rackets and room for football. Games room with table tennis and pool all free. Beautiful sunrise and set over the area. Location was amazing only 5 mins drive to local beach which was great for swimming but amazing for boarding. Great pubs near by. Would 1000% return and recommend.
Most clean well kept site we have every been to. Also the milkshake were definitely a hit with the kids. Staff were so friendly.

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Excellent site, fantastic amenities, well maintained, couldn’t ask for a better pitch. Perfect position for Porthtowan, lovely all round stay. Look forward to returning.

Disliked Nothing really! Dog walk could have been slightly bigger but not a big problem, they even had dog waste bags and water to clean away.

Electric grass pitch

Liked This site is amazing in that, the staff are over and above friendly, the site is immaculate (I have never seen a toilet and shower block so clean). Nice touch offering pastries etc in morning and a nice games room with ping pong and pool tables. A bit out of the way to walk anywhere.

Disliked Nothing. Only visited for one night but were very impressed with site overall.

Local attractions

Stick to the north coast area, venture inland, or head down to Falmouth and the south coast, all within easy driving distance of here. Within walking distance, the beach of Porthtowan is a popular spot for surfers and families, with plenty of rockpools and caves to explore around its scenic wide stretch of sand. The site is also a short walk from the South West Coast Path – hike the up and down trail to Portreath four or so miles west – and near the Mineral Tramways trail, 14 mostly traffic-free miles from Portreath to Devoran down on the south coast near Falmouth. Shops, restaurants, bars and river boat trips are all at Truro a few miles away; also take time to see the museum, and, if you're around on Wednesday or Saturday, to mooch around the Truro farmers' market on Lemon Quay. Gardens? Several are in the area, with the National Trust's Trerice and Glendurgan the closest to the site. Or gold? Take a trip to Cornwall Gold Centre on the Portreath Road, to pan for gold, have a go at pottery, or just look significantly at your significant other over the gold, silver and pearl jewellery for sale. For family cycling or walking, Tehidy Country Park just outside Portreath is flat and buggy-friendly, and leads out to spectacular views for smashing picnics. More actively, try SK8 Skate Park and The Track, Sithians Lake for watersports and Camel Creek Adventure Park at Wadebridge.
