View from the camping field

  • Wild camping field with spectacular views over Cornish countryside
  • A 40-minute drive to the Eden Project, and 20 minutes from Newquay
  • Dog-friendly pitches on a 25-acre site; the beach 10 minutes’ drive
At the top of a valley overlooking the Cornish village of Callestick, Callestick Camping has uninterrupted views to a historic tin mine over a patchwork of green fields. Families, surfers, walkers – and their dogs – all are welcome on this spacious site near Truro with an off-grid, wild camping vibe. With 25 acres spread over four fields and only a small number of pitches, you all have plenty of space for playing with the kids and walking the dog safely. You are also welcome to have a firepit by your tent. From the camping field, it’s a 10-minute stroll into Callestick, home to a well-known ice-cream parlour and a cider farm. Keen to get out in the open air? You can play golf and go horse riding along Perranporth beach (a particularly lovely spot at sunset) in less than 10 minutes’ drive. This is very much a back-to nature-campsite without electricity, so don’t bring the hairdryer. There are toilets though, plus a gas-heated shower, chemical disposal point and a cold-water washing-up sink.

Valley View non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Back to nature style campsite and great if you prefer a wild type of camping with lots of space between neighbours. Beautiful views and so peaceful. We loved the showers, so warm and powerful.
Rattler farm is literally opposite so used it like our local.

Valley View non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Very quiet even mid august. Bang opposite the Healey Cornish Cider Farm and 10 mins from Perranporth.
Warm showers too

Disliked No electric sockets on site, but we paid for a non-electric pitch so I'm just being picky!

Will definitely look no further than this site anytime we return.

Local attractions

Enjoy exploring on foot? Callestick Camping is surrounded by green lanes, bridleways and coastal paths. An easy walk is to Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm (five minutes’ stroll) to sample local scrumpy. If it’s surfing all the way for you, the fabled Fistral surfing beach is at Newquay (20 minutes’ drive), while Perranporth beach (10 minutes) has three miles of sand and fantastic surfing waves, with plenty of surf schools and hire shops on tap. To learn about Cornish mining heritage, head for abandoned Wheal Coates tin mine (15 minutes’ drive – recognise it from the TV series ‘Poldark’?), or other relics including Blue Hills (15 minutes) and Great Wheal Charlotte (20 minutes). The site is fairly central to the north and south coasts, meaning that Cornwall’s main attractions are easily drivable, from Atlantic views at Land’s End Landmark Attraction (50 minutes’ drive) to the biospheres packed with rare plants at the Eden Project (40 minutes). Falmouth (half an hour) offers indie shops and seafront eateries as well as hidden coves to splash around in.
