Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The campsite is basic but has everything you need. Facilities were clean, and I especially appreciated the wetsuit wash basins and washing lines – super handy after a day in the water. Would definitely stay again!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious grass pitches

Disliked Not very comfortable toilet/showerblocks.
No wifi or possibility to power up phones.

From the manager: We do have phone charging stations and they are open from 9.00am to 6.00pm every day at the reception area … there is a small charging fee of £1.00 that people put in a charging cup provided..

Such a beautiful sight with the best view of the sunset! Great…

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything was great about this place. Beautiful sunset over green rolling hills. Smooth ground to pitch on. Clean amenities and warm water for washing. Near to St. Ives if you are driving.

Disliked Weak phone signal, but did catch internet here and there. Narrow approach road, but okay for our Honda Jazz.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely, well kept field for camping with plenty of space around the tent. Very quiet and peaceful with respectful fellow campers. A couple of miles drive from St Ives so great location. Good showers.

Disliked Very basic with just showers and toilets so go prepared with all your other camping bits and food.

Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff and level pitches

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Very quiet place, close to St Ives and local pub. Very clean amenities. One other reviewer complained about stuff being worn, but I do not see an issue with that. All is kept spotless clean and in good working order, so I do not need all to be brand new.
We loved the walk to The Engine Inn via local fields (15 min)
If we ever come back to Cornwall we will be very happy to stay again.
Mobile data is quite weak but it works well enough to do the necessary stuff.

Route directions

Please note, if you allow the satnav or TomTom to direct you in, it will probably take you via Crowlas and Nancleadra. If you enter the lane from this direction, you will find the lane a lot narrower (still doable, but less comfortably). Entering the lane from the Towednack Crossroads side is the best way to approach (as per the directions below) as the lane from this direction has been widened to take large lorries On the A30 from Exeter, once you reach the Hayle bypass, take the third exit at the roundabout to St Ives (A3074). At the second mini roundabout, about 500m from the A30, turn left onto Mill Hill and follow the road until you reach the T-junction with the B3311. Turn left and 200m after the junction turn right and veer left down the small lane. We are about 0.75 miles further down the road on the right.

Local attractions

Hit the beaches, restaurants, galleries, craft shops and cafés of arty St Ives as a first stop, then sneak over to the pirate HQ of Penzance five miles from the farm, also a top spot for sailing. If you're up (down?) for diving or snorkelling, Lamorna Cove is the location, about five miles south of Penzance, and Sennen Cove is topping for surfing alongside St Ives and Hayle. Both St Ives and Penzance have shoals' worth of sea fishing available from chartered boats too; if you fancy freshwater fishing, golfing, climbing or horse riding there are lots of options locally. One of the most popular places in the region is the rocky island of St Michael's Mount and its medieval castle in Mount's Bay at Marazion: take a boat out to or walk across the sand in low tide. At Newlyn, take a coastal tour to also very scenic Mousehole (and did you know that the Lamorna granite of its pier is the same used to build the Thames Embankment?). More high-quality highlights in the area? Try the utterly fab (darling) Minack Theatre, or head to the north coast and the surf at Portreath, Porthtowan and Newquay.
