  • Back-to-basics camping five minutes’ drive from St Ives in Cornwall
  • Marazion and St Michael’s Mount 20 minutes’ drive; 35 to Land’s End
  • Dark skies site with spectacular rural views; pub 10 minutes’ walk
When you’re looking for a base close to big-hitting attractions in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (and there are plenty, after all), consider settling yourselves down at Higher Penderleath Resort. In 10 acres of landscaped parkland with spectacular views over hills and valleys, the park is close to St Ives (five minutes’ drive), Land’s End (35 minutes) and Marazion (20 minutes). What could be handier for Cornish jaunts? So you’re all set for a nearly-wild camping adventure – ‘nearly wild’ because there are hot showers and toilets on site, but otherwise it’s down to you and your tent. Find your favourite spot on the level and tree-sheltered camping field, and get on with pitching up. Parking is allowed right next to your tent, so you won’t be needing to lug heavy gear across the field. Please bear in mind that there is no electricity on site, but there are phone-charging facilities available nearby. Barbecues are allowed on the pitches – but if you’re not into outdoor cooking, the local pub is roughly 10 minutes’ walk away. And – thanks to the zero light pollution in these parts – it's likely you’ll be amazed by the after-dark display of stars on clear nights.

What customers say

This is a well-maintained, peaceful campsite praised for its friendly staff, clean facilities, and beautiful views. Guests enjoyed spacious pitches and proximity to St Ives. However, some found the facilities limited, particularly when the site is busy, and noted issues with grass length and pricing. While most appreciated the quiet atmosphere and amenities, a few mentioned some facilities were closed or not well-maintained.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked The campsite lies in beautiful lush green surroundings, with wide views in all directions. The pitch we had was overlooking the hills and we had stunning sunsets every night. It's quiet and peaceful. Super friendly and helpful staff. Toilets and showers are a bit dated but functioning fine and plenty of them. Harry (staff) helped us out with how to get around in the area, which was much appreciated. It's only a 10 mins drive to St. Ives.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked We are a family of five. We also brought our little Shih Tzu with us. We love the facilities, 3 toilet each for male and female, and likewise with the shower cubicles. The longest queue I had to wait for was 3 minutes.

The allocated plot was very spacious, with wooden picnic table that you could borrow.

The view was just the breathtaking part of the site. It changes as the day goes by. Sunrise and sunset was just amazing.

Staff, well.. I don't know how to start. They were just flawless. One day my van drained it's battery. I had to brave it up and had to ask Richard (one of the great caretakers) if they have a jumper lead. Long and behold! Tom, the superman came. He was very helpful, brought his truck and pulled it in front of my van. Connected the leads and 'voila' it started. He even offered to call them up if my van will do the same outside the camp site, so he can help me. Thankfully, it was fine then.

Distance, to 10 minutes drive to Carbis bay and 15 minutes to St Ives town. Brilliant location and distance. Oh, don't forget the Trink Farm. Best fresh milk ever you can get, only 3 minutes drive down the road.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked Nothing, really, well, the washing-up aren was ok.

Disliked Very small pitches, very loud environment, dirty facilities at all times, and to get to the female toilets and showers you have to walk through the men’s showers.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked Very clean and staff were friendly

Disliked Although there seem to be many facilities there they are mostly closed ( this is June not Nov). One male shower and toilet for the whole site!!
Two female showers and a toilet for the whole site. Recptn is never manned and you have to call to check in or get anything from them.
Although there are local pubs within walking distance they don't serve food much and are mostly empty.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked That the place was quiet, had all the amenities that you need to enjoy your stay, clean and good quality services such as hot showers and toilets
Plenty of space for our two children to run and play without being in other campers way
Staff were super friendly, when we arrived we got put on a pitch that wasn't suitable for our needs, but once we spoke to a member of staff it was quickly sorted and we moved instantly to a better pitch
Park was great for our 2 children to enjoy themselves while the sun was out

But overall such a good site to unwind, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet

Great views

Disliked Not a big fan of being on a hill, but we made it work, if we go again we will try and ask to be put on a flatter pitch, but it didn't make our stay any less enjoyable

My partner did mention that if the place was busy there wasn't enough services for men (showers and toilets) and couldn't find another toilet block for me, so it meant one shower, a urinal and shower for the whole camp site.

We understand they had only just opened so the shop and bigger toilet block was not open so we couldn't use them.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly, sloping)

Liked Loved the confort of the place, there was everything you can possibly ask for, showers, laundry room (there was laundry detergent as well omg), a small canteen where to wash your dishes and store frozen food.
The view it’s amazing. Can’t wait till next summer, will definitely go back there and stay longer as this time was 3 nights only.

Local attractions

Most lovers of contemporary art will probably want to spend a day at Tate St Ives (five minutes’ drive). For an alfresco arty experience, check out the eccentric installations on sculpture trails at Tanglewood Wild Garden (20 minutes) or Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (15 minutes), with its dramatic views over the sea to medieval St Michael’s Mount. To see St Michael’s Mount close up, head for pretty Marazion (20 minutes) and walk across the sands at low tide to climb up cobbled streets to the hilltop castle and wander around the sub-tropical gardens. When you’re done exploring, don’t miss the chance to potter around the boutiques and arty shops of Marazion itself. Keen hikers can access the South West Coast Path at sheltered Carbis Bay beach (10 minutes), while those of you who prefer less energetic activities can linger on the sands and splash around in the sea. Other local beaches include popular Porthgwidden (15 minutes), backed by a fishing harbour and lots of cafés, or – for a change of vibe – the near-deserted sandy expanse at Hayle (20 minutes).
