Spacious pitches
Loads of space between pitches
Close to numerous beaches
A lovely spot

  • Peaceful, spacious pitches in Cornwall with spectacular views
  • Walk to village shops and restaurants; a 15-minute drive to beaches
  • Fully equipped kitchen and hot showers; a 40-minute drive from St Ives
Fancy a break on a spacious, friendly and peaceful site with plenty of mod cons and the chance to get out into bracing Cornish air? That sounds a lot like Wesley House Campsite near Redruth, where you can also (hopefully) experience dramatic sunrises and sunsets – and the Milky Way twinkling in dark skies at night. You have a choice of three meadows set in four acres, so you can just turn up and pitch where you want. There’s plenty of space for any size of tent, so no sardines here, but you may have to share your space with the odd resident rabbit, pheasant or even a passing deer. Hot showers and toilet facilities are centrally located in the middle paddock, together with a kitchen area with a communal fridge, microwave and hot-water washing-up facilities. The site is well located for exploring the whole of Cornwall, with myriad places for day trips including Falmouth (25 minutes’ drive), St Michael’s Mount and St Ives (both 40 minutes). There is surfing off Porthtowan (15 minutes), Perranporth (25 minutes) and Three Mile Beach at Gwithian (20 minutes). For hikers, the site is adjacent to the Tresavean Trail (two minutes' walk), linking into the network of trails stretching from coast to coast across Cornwall. For practical matters, it's a 15-minute walk to Lanner for the village's shops and places to eat.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a splendid little site, spotlessly clean and tidy, untimed really good showers, plenty of drinking water points, grey water dump and Elsan point.
I parked up in the top field for a couple of reasons, it has lovely far reaching views towards St Agnes and over Falmouth towards the Roseland peninsula but mainly because it catches the wind.
When gripped in the middle of a heatwave, having a constant gentle breeze blowing through the van was perfect.
This is a quiet site, the hosts limit the number of campers so that nobody feels crowded, at the time of writing, I'm the only van in the top field and there are a couple of so in the bottom field.
Michael the host, was really friendly, he pointed out the flat places, I wanted breeze more than a worrying about a bit of a slope. I don't much use ramps so I just orientated the van to make it comfortable.
During my couple of nights stay, Michael called by a couple of times to check all was OK and just have a general chat, which is always nice.
There is plenty of wildlife with rabbits coming out to play at dusk and dawn, loads of birdlife and according to the hosts visits from deer, foxes and badgers.
Access wise, if heading from Falmouth, ignore the satnav which took me from the village end of rough road, which is very narrow. Much better to take the turn at the top of the village as recommended by the site.
As for the location, Wesley House is around a 15 minute drive from the sheltered south coast beaches, restaurants etc in Falmouth, and around 20minutes from the north coast beaches at Porthtowen and Portreath, if surfing is your thing.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (solo)

Liked Site location was spot on and it was a lovely small site. Facilities were perfect and although no electric the provision of a fridge, kettle & microwave are an added bonus. Martin was great and was about if needed for anything, not that I did. Not many sites like this any more, I'll definitely be back!

Liked Lovely spot. Very quiet for a bank holiday weekend. All good with our stay. Clean toilets (x2) and hot showers (x2).

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
You were lucky for an early bank holiday as the temperature was a little lower than usual so we were quieter than normal:) We limit our pitches as the summer progresses in any event so as not to be too crowded :)

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful space. Great space between fellow campers. Well cared for facilities, showers and shared indoor fridge, kettle and washing up space. Loved our time there, left a little early only for the ease of returning home with dry tents!!

Disliked Sloping in places but hosts were helpful in pointing out where to pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: So pleased you enjoyed your stay. It was a pity rain was forecast but it sounds like you kept your tents dry with good forward planning. :)
