  • Small, family-owned and -run park in a central location in Cornwall
  • Portreath sandy beach five minutes' drive; Porthtowan beach 10 minutes
  • In a wooded valley, with barbecue slabs, a play area and a games room
Tehidy Holiday Park is a small, independent and family-owned park set in a wooded valley, with a sustainable focus. It's got a nice and central location, within a short drive of the sandy beaches of Portreath (five minutes) and Porthtowan (10 minutes), and with countryside all around. The scenic wooded valley is just outside of Illogan, so restaurants and convenience stores are a 20-minute walk away, too. On this relaxing green site, barbecue slabs and picnic benches are dotted all around, and there's a play area and an orchard along with a log-cabin games room with pool tables and TV. Grab your essentials and afternoon drinks from the on-site shop and off-licence. The park has been carefully designed to blend into its woodland setting, and is a wildlife haven; take the woodland walk to spot some local species (which is also, handily, a shortcut to the local pub too). More on that location, for it is just so handy: Tehidy Holiday Park is a 20-minute drive from the long sands at The Towans, 25 minutes from arty St Ives and not all that far from Falmouth (35 minutes) and the Trelissick Garden (half an hour) if you fancy a trip down to the south coast.

What customers say

This well-maintained site is praised for its picturesque, private pitches, excellent and spotlessly clean facilities with ample hot water, and friendly staff. It's noted as a peaceful, quiet, and beautiful environment, conveniently located for local attractions. Visitors highlight the welcoming atmosphere, good for families with excellent play areas. Some reviewers mention the ground can be hard in dry weather, and one suggested more water fill-up points, though the manager states they are strategically located. Overall, guests highly recommend the site and plan to return.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (large, maximum 7 metres)

Liked Hedges off camping pitches, provides seclusion and privacy.
Clean toilet and shower block. Helpful and knowledgeable owner.

Disliked No shelf in the shower to put anything!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: You're very welcome. Great to hear you had a good stay with us. We actually have stailess steel sheves ready to fit when we get a quieter spell. Next time you will have a shower soap shelf.
Hope to see you again.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked We had a great holiday, we were made to feel welcome from the second we arrived. Great central location for going out visiting different places. The kids had the best time and made friends so many friends and the play area was perfect for them. Everywhere was clean and very well looked after. I would however advise people come with strong tent pegs (if staying in a tent), or spares as the ground was extremely dry and hard obviously this was due to the dry hot weather we have had, nothing to do with the owners or the site itself but we bent every single peg we had and others had the same problem 🙈. We would definitely visit here again and have already recommended this site to friends and family.

From the manager: So good to hear you had a good time with us.I totally agree with the tent peg comment, the ground is like concrete after the long dry summer. Hope to see you guys again.

Liked Quiet and beautiful environment, with clean facilities. The site is at Illogan that in fact makes key surrounding scenes, attractions and beaches reachable for around half an hour driving. The owners are friendly and share visiting information that helps us enjoy the trip a lot.

From the manager: Great to hear you had a good holiday with us, that's exactly what we want to hear. Our approach is simple we want our guests to have the same experience we would want.

Electric optional grass pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked We really liked to amount of trees and hedges that decided the pitches, made each pitch feel secluded while providing shade from the sun

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Great to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. It would be great to see you again soon. The trees and hedges make such a difference to a site, they give shade as you say, privacy, bring in wildlife and take up ground water so the pitches stay in good shape longer.
Plus who doesn't like a bit of nature around them.

Electric optional grass pitch (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Everything the site is quite close to a rat run road but is quiet at night. The toilets are amazing.

Disliked Needs more water fill up point

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Soo good to hear you enjoyed your stay. The road was very busy this last weekend with the Tropical pressure festival on locally. Good it din't disturb you at night, it is generally very quiet then. Re the water points they are in each camping area so are within 30m of every pitch. looking at your pitch you had a point about 7 to 8 m to your left. Sorry if it wasn't made clear to you

Richard

Local attractions

All the main highlights of Cornwall are easy to get to from here: Tehidy is between St Agnes and St Ives, and a half-hour drive will take you to famous Cornish landmarks Land’s End (50 minutes) and the island of St Michael’s Mount (half an hour). The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are both within a 45-minute drive of the site, too. The closest beach to Tehidy is Portreath: there’s a valley walk from the park via the village following the stream through the bluebell woods – look out for kingfishers on the way. It's popular with surfers and bodyboarders, with more surfing and watersports nearby at Godrevy (20 minutes), Porthtowan beach (10 minutes) and the Cornish surfing mecca of Newquay (half an hour). If you’ve yet to don a wetsuit, there are plenty of surf schools in the area to show you the ropes. Staying on land, golfers can hone their swing at one of four local golf courses, and there are miles of woodland walks at Tehidy Country Park (10 minutes). This area of Cornwall is full of mining heritage, with Tehidy in the middle of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site and the National Trust’s Cornish Mines and Engines site nearby.
