  • Fishing, sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and lots more to try
  • Playground, lakeside trails, bird hide, café and refreshment kiosk
Get along to Stithians Lake Campsite for watersports, scenic waterside views and loads of room all around: pitches at this family-friendly activities site look out over 275-acre Stithians Lake. The range of activities on offer at Stithians Lake Campsite makes the site excellent for groups: fly fishers can cast from boat or bank for sizeable brown and rainbow trout (Environment Agency rod licences are required for over 12s and you'll need to apply for these beforehand). Visitors can also try out a wide range of watersports with the help of the qualified instructors at the Outdoor Active centre: windsurfing, sailing, rowing, kayaking and water zorbing are all on offer... feel free to bring your own kit or rent it on site. There’s loads of space around the site for family games and picnics too, as well as a pirate-themed playground, walking trails around the lake and a bird hide for twitchers. Rid yourselves of the rumbles at the on-site café and refreshment kiosk, or have some of the homemade specials on the menu at the Golden Lion pub, 100 yards away. The shower and toilet facilities are a short walk from the campsite. Guests have access to individual washrooms with a toilet, shower and sink. These facilities are separate to the watersports centre where further toilets, showers and changing facilities can be found. Stithians village is within easy reach of the site to stock up on supplies.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We loved staying at Stithians lake campsite. We had a fantastic view of the lake from our camper van pitch and all the facilities were very close to us. The showers and toilets were spotless. Also the cafe is a lovely place to go and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet at night. Also a great pub only 2 minutes walk from the site. My partner had a wing foiling lesson with Finn who was a great, enthusiastic and patient instructor. We will definitely stay again.

Disliked: We had to go home 😂

Electric grass pitch

Liked: I loved how thought out the pitches were. There is the pitch for your tent with clearly marked signs, then a separate spot for the car, which was helpful, not having to worry about having room to park next to our tent. Electric points were in good reach of the pitch as well as the water supply. The facilities were well maintained and I liked that they were coded so that they were purely for camping guests (although after a week, I’d had enough of having to put a code in to have a wee haha not a complaint though!) I really liked that the facilities had everything in one room - toilet, sink & shower all in 1 cubicle like a wet room - made it so much easier. They are self contained and whilst we were there, they were always clean. Good facilities with the washing machine (£4), freezer and plenty of washing up spaces so you were never waiting. The guys in the reception were super friendly, polite and helpful and generally, we had a good feel about the place. The camp site is great central location to get to many different places in Cornwall, which we loved.

Disliked: Being really picky because we’ve had a great week, but depending what pitch you’re on, it’s a bit of a walk to the toilet/showers due to the fence. It also took us a while to figure out where the bins were, which was also a bit of a walk. Again, being incredibly picky. There was also no WiFi. First world problems I know, but signal was extremely limited so it would have been a nice added extra.

Local attractions

Stithians Lake is very close to Falmouth, where guests can continue the watery theme with a visit to the dockyards and National Maritime Museum, take a tour of Henry VIII’s seaside cottage Pendennis Castle, or just indulge in some retail therapy. Horticulturalists will find plenty of inspiration at the nearby Trebah and Glendurgan gardens, and animal fanciers will go barking mad over the seals, sea lions, otters and penguins at the National Seal Sanctuary in Helston. Under an hour’s drive is Penzance and Cornish beach towns Newquay and St Ives.
