  • Quiet back-to-basics site on a working farm in Illogan
  • Golf course, trampoline park and watersports lake within 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes' walk from village pubs and 45 from Portreath beach
A working farm on the edge of a Cornwall village, with easy access to country footpaths and a 45-minute saunter from the beach… the kind of place one could settle in for a lifetime, eh? The folks at Hillcrest Views Campsite certainly think so – the family set up home here over 80 years ago and haven’t budged since. Current owner Amy’s now welcoming guests to share in her tribe’s special spot while making sure it doesn’t lose its peaceful vibe – thus the small site has pleasingly spacious pitches but only basic amenities. Flick through the pics and you’ll note some gorgeous rural views: a fab backdrop for stoking up a barbecue while the kids race about playing games. Admire those views for a bit and you’ll probably think you’re in the middle of nowhere, so it’s pleasing to remember that you’re a mere 10-minute amble from Illogan village and its pub, shops and chippy (plus a pasty shop, of course – a staple in these parts). If you’re doing DIY dins, supermarket supplies for your meals can be picked up in Redruth, 10 minutes’ drive away. You could spend many a day wandering on local trails and beaches, but if you’ve brought the kids it’s handy to know that you’re less than 15 minutes’ drive from all sorts of family attractions, including a castle, a trampoline park and a watersports centre. It’s also just a mile or so to the A30 for those looking to head to more far-flung attractions like St Ives or the Eden Project.

What customers say

This campsite offers spacious, private pitches separated by hedges, alongside excellent, consistently clean toilet and shower facilities. Minor points include difficulty finding the entrance initially and occasional noise from a nearby workshop, though the owners are actively addressing feedback.

Lana N.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, absolutely loved the hedging and the site is immaculate! The arrival instructions and pre-info were great. What we paid was great too, we used it as a base to explore St Ives. We booked really late and our booking was accommodated easily.

Disliked Only comment i have is that the shower/toilet block was absolutely freezing. My 7 year old was shivering in the shower and to be fair i wasn't much warmer either. The door seems to always be open, I did shut it but then someone opened it back up again. Also the lights at night were minimal, none of them were on when we were walking to the toilet block.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much Lana for your custom as we open this year and your constructive feedback as this helps us to continually refine our site as we go. We hope you had a lovely time exploring the region and wish you all the best for the rest of your Easter Break!

katy l.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked We stayed here for one night in October and really enjoyed the peaceful setting. The site is quiet, and feels fairly isolated despite being a short walk from the village. It only has a small number of pitches, which made it feel private and relaxing. The views across the countryside are lovely and it’s a great place to unwind.

Facilities are clean and well maintained, and it was such a treat to have a proper hot shower after a rainy autumn walk.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming, meeting us on arrival, showing us around, and recommending some great local places for dinner and things to see nearby.

Although we only stayed for one night, we could have easily stayed longer. It’s a simple, well-kept site in a beautiful, peaceful location — perfect for a quiet countryside break.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: That you Katy for such a lovely review and for both of you coming to stay with us. It was our pleasure hosting for you and I'm really pleased you enjoyed your short stay. We love meeting like-minded folk that enjoy the simplicities that can be easily available to us. Sending you both our best wishes for the rest of your year!

Coming from Redruth, enter Illogan coming up a large hill. At the brow of the hill you will see two chapels opposite one another. Take it slowly here, as the site is 50 yards further on, on the right-hand side opposite a little crossroad sign for Richards Lane. Look out for a concrete lane with central grass verge between two white cottages; this leads up to the site.
