  • Rural campsite in a rural setting overlooking Mount's Bay
  • Penzance 10 minutes' drive; St Ives a quarter of an hour
  • Dog-friendly campsite overlooking open countryside in Cornwall
Restful rural surroundings with an ancient village, castle and sea close by… that’s the lovely little mix at Garris Farm, a quiet and peaceful site on a hillside above the small village of Gulval in the far west of Cornwall. With views over Mount's Bay and spectacular vistas towards Penzance, this elevated site is an excellent spot for holidaying in one of the prettiest parts of the South West. Appreciate the relaxing surroundings and watch the night sky light up with stars, or take yourself out on active jaunts over the miles of local footpaths past church towers and old mine stacks that point to Cornwall's industrial heritage. The site has direct access to paths that lead from the farm to Gulval, Castle an Dinus and Chysauster Ancient Village, a late Iron Age and Romano-British settlement. The South West Coast Path is close too if you fancy some really splendid scenery, with seaside towns like Penzance and St Ives accessible in under a quarter of an hour's drive. The set-up at this simple farm site includes a running water tap, recycling bins and a toilet and shower block in the yard. Dogs are welcome here, as long as they are well-behaved and kept on leads at all times.

This campsite offers stunning views of Mount's Bay and Penzance. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful owners, clean facilities including spacious hot showers, and the convenient location for exploring West Cornwall. Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely pitch with a beautiful view! The host was kind and gave us lots of great recommendations for things to do in the local area. Appreciated having a tap with drinking water so close to the pitch, and very clean toilets + showers were a short walk away. On our last day, it got busier for the bank holiday weekend, but it didn't feel crowded. The highlight was making incredibly tasty campfire food using fresh herbs from the herb garden!

Liked This was such a great wild camping site. Beautiful views across a meadow with fields and the coast in the distance. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Very clean well looked after facilities. The owner was lovely, welcoming and helpful. Penzance just 10mins drive away. My dogs and I had such a lovely stay. I will definitely be returning.

Liked Lovely pitch with gorgeous views of the coast. We had the field to ourselves the first night, it was so so peaceful! Facilities were well maintained and very clean. Easily accessible fire bit and logs for a lovely fire in the evening. Also great location, easy access to Penzance, St. Michaels Mount, and a great train ride from St. Erth to St. Ives.

Local attractions

Dig up a little of Cornwall’s past… it’s easy to do so from this campsite. The Chysauster Ancient Village (roughly half an hour's walk) was full of farmers 2000 years ago, but now, you’ll get to look around the remaining village street, courtyard and thatched rooms. Then, make way to Marazion for St Michael's Mount (15 minutes' drive), where the tidal causeway leads the way to an old fortress… picnics on the front lawn, shopping or just learning the tales of the past make for a history-full afternoon out. Geevor Tin Mine (25 minutes) opens up the past Cornish copper mining history, but when you’re done with learning about history, there’s the Tate St Ives (15 minutes) for those art fans among you or the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (10 minutes) for finely-fashioned exotic and sub-tropical gardens, an art gallery and sculpture garden. Off to other horizons… Penzance (10 minutes) is the place to go for ferries to the Isles of Scilly, while Mousehole (20 minutes) is a traditional fishing village and Land's End (30 minutes) has shopping and splendid scenery on the most southerly point in England.
