  • Quiet adults-only site in the middle of the Land's End peninsula
  • Spacious pitches marked with hedges; smart modern bathroom block
  • A 10-minute drive from Sennen Cove and the Land's End viewpoint
Want to run away from it all but avoid the crowds of Cornwall in clement weather? Head to the end of the country and pitch up near smashingly scenic Land's End at family-run Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park. This is a site for those into their scenery: the four and three-quarter acres of grounds have been carefully landscaped to be filled with flowers, trees and shrubs, alongside roomy pitches that are thoughtfully laid out and individually marked with hedges. Award-winning Sennen Cove – full of surfing spots, wildlife watching and stunningly scenic sands – is less than three miles away. Cardinney's facilities include a well-stocked shop that sells Calor gas alongside grocery essentials. It's also got a fully equipped launderette and a smart luxury bathroom block.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Sehr, sehr schöner Campingplatz. Sehr ruhig, sehr saubere Anlagen, sehr freundliches Personal.

Electric grass pitch

Liked What an amazing stay! The site is in an excellent location for exploring the local area and with an easy drive to some of the most beautiful beaches. The pitches were the perfect size for a camper van and room to relax around it. We were appreciative of the lovely Cornish hedge and trees surrounding the pitch so that our dog could snooze in the shade. We even spotted glow worms! The campsite facilities were immaculate, it was nice to end the day with a warm shower and to be able to pop to the campsite shop for essentials. We will definitely be back!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Great position for exploring the west of Cornwall. Very clean facilities.

Disliked We have stayed at Cardinney about 6 times now, but sadly we were very disappointed this time. The pitch that we had was really not ready; the grass had not been cut, the hedges looked like they may have been cut but not at all well. We used up our £2.00 of electricity and then just had it cut off. Apparently the the option to pay to top it up wasn't working.

In short, we have enjoyed staying at this site before, but we will probably not be returning.

From the manager: Good morning

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Please accept our apologies that the site was not to its usual excellent standard during your recent visit.

Unfortunately it became apparent over the weekend that the staff had not been maintaining any areas. We have taken appropriate action, taken over the site personally and started getting the site back to how it has looked previously.

I have added a credit to your account with us so that you can return and experience Cardinney at its best, as you have in the past.

We apologise again.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked Clean and spacious shower/toilet facilities (although they were only cleaned once during our weeks stay).
Location is very good for exploring West Cornwall.
WiFi on our pitch was OK

Disliked Restricted use of electricity to £2 a day, which isn't even enough to have hot water.
New wangfangled electricity app that does not work and did not work for our whole stay.
Pitches and general site is unkempt and tired.
Dog waste bin in dog exercise area was full to overflowing and wasn't emptied during our weeks stay.
Rubbish bins were full to overflowing and not emptied during our weeks stay. We witnessed a number of rats in the bin/washing up area.

Local attractions

Have a look at the leaflets in Cardinney's information hut to see the best of what's nearby: sandy beaches, surfing, golf, fishing, horse riding and seaside towns and villages are all within five miles. Land's End first, of course… of all the scenic spots in Cornwall, this is among the most spectacular, and you'll probably need a couple of days at least roaming around the beaches, coves and cliffs here... Secluded Sennen Cove and its sparkling sands are a first stopoff for many, who come to soak up the sun on its sands or tackle the waves on its surf. Whitesands Beach is also well regarded for surf and joins up with the mile of beach at Gwenver where the waves are a bit stronger (all three beaches are lifeguarded in summer). On the cliffs, many suggest that one of the best Land's End occupations is just to sit and watch the waves crashing below, but if you're itching for a hike, visit the visitors' centre for a list of walks around the area, or the RSPB Wildlife Discovery Centre just below the famous Land's End signpost to find out what species you can see. In the evening, the famed open-air Minack Theatre at Porthcurno is probably one of this area's best-known manmade things, set into the cliffs and listed as one of the most spectacular theatres in the world. The season runs from May to September, but tickets are available to look around the theatre and gardens during the day. Cardinney Caravan and Camping Park is an obliging base for other much-visited Cornish attractions like National Trust houses and gardens and yet more spectacular beaches: try visiting Godolphin at Helston, or lying on the sands at Marazion, Mousehole or along the coast at St Ives.
