General

  • Family park in Porth Valley within easy reach of Newquay and beaches
  • Heated pools, sauna and steam rooms, café, bar
  • Surf lessons, bike hire and coastal walks all available

What a lot there is to do around Cornwall's Newquay View Resort, a family-friendly park set a 15-minute walk from the golden and safe beach of Porth. Fittingly for a site based near Newquay, the park has its own surf school for those interested in learning the art – or you might prefer to lounge around the resort's many facilities (and bar) instead…?

Newquay View has a good range of modern accommodation and a wide variety of facilities, including a fully refurbished indoor pool with sauna and steam rooms at no extra charge, a heated outdoor pool with seating and a new play area (pool open in summer), and the Venue bar and restaurant, serving food every day and fully kitted out with BT Sports, arcade games, snooker tables and plenty of seating. Those on holiday to be thoroughly pampered have the Fair Lady' salon for hair and beauty treatments to keep everything looking and feeling absolutely tiptop.

The summer months see regular evening entertainment in the Venue from shows to bingo, and Sami’s kids' club on hand to amuse kids of all ages with talent competitions, discos and heaps of other activities.

For food, a restaurant in the Venue, was added in 2017 with the aim of producing high-quality food to match the standards of the site facilities, using the best of fresh local ingredients; as much of the food is made in-house as possible, from burgers to sauces. The site also has a small shop selling food, pastries and pasties, fresh veg, hot coffee, gifts and essentials. Plenty of local supermarkets are close to hand.

Amenities include showers, toilets, disabled facilities, free wifi and launderettes with coin-operated machines; irons and ironing boards can be hired from reception and there are also airers if required.

And if you're here to investigate the surf at nearby Fistral beach and Watergate Bay? Newquay View's on-site Blue Surf School has lessons and equipment hire, as well as bike hire and activities such as coasteering, all available for an additional charge. The famed surf festival Boardmasters is nearby.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 26/05 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

The indoor swimming pool is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 3 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Due to the countryside valley location, the mobile reception is weak or minimal on the resort, so there's a phone available to use in reception should you need. The best network is O2; others are very limited. Free wifi is available in the poolside café and the Venue Bar.

Our pitch was big . The campsite was close to where we wanted to be.

    Disliked:

The toilets were dirty and when they were being cleaner they were cleaning them at 8am when people are getting up needing to use them, we had to walk to the ones further down which were even dirty. When I normally stay on campsites they clean the toilets really early or in afternoon not bang in the morning when we need to use it, also no mop available to clean up after. The club house said there was a kitchen that was open till 9 they only served chips and natchos, one evening we decided we would eat there then got there and realised that's all they had so had to drive out. The surfing hire was closed the day we wanted to use them, they could of put a note up the day before, we went to the loction it said to hire them and it wasn't open till 11am. The staff did not seem to care and were rude. Oh and newqauy view sorry what view? If you walk 15mins you might get one. Also says its in walking distance to local pubs it took us half an hour, and there's one pub. No wifi, does say that when you book, but doesn't say that there isn't any signal.

Excellent facilities, the kids loved the indoor and outdoor swimming pools and evening entertainment. We were able to walk to beach in about 20 mins which was great.

    Disliked:

The toilets and showers could have been cleaned abit better, the only time I saw somebody in there cleaning was at about 9am one morning and they had shut the whole block as it was a male cleaner in ladies so had to walk further to next block.

Hardstanding pitches although drains were blocked. Pitches were ideally located near to the toilet block. Out door pool was great and kids enjoyed the park and open spaces.

    Disliked:

Bar staff quite miserable and trying to poor drinks into plastic cups even when quiet and plenty of glasses. Bar staff charging different prices for the same drinks so beware! Campers opposite noisey into the early hours with no security to ask them to be quiet.

Local attractions

Go surfing, go coast walking, go sporty, have a family-friendly day out or delve into Cornwall's historical and educational attractions – you'll find loads to do near Newquay View Resort and over the border in Devon to suit all weathers.

Take the kids to any one of many kid-friendly things to see and do: Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium and DairyLand Farm World are the closest big family attractions to the park, but it's worth a trip to the Eden Project at St Austell or to Devon for the Crealy Great Adventure Park at Exeter, and The Big Sheep and the Milky Way parks, both at Bideford.

The closest sands to the site are at Porth beach and Watergate Bay, both within about 15 minutes and both part of the beaches at Newquay. No surfing is allowed at Porth during summer, so if you've come to tackle the waves, take your board to Watergate Bay or nearby Fistral beach, both regarded by surf dudes and dudettes as among the best surfing beaches in the world.

If you'd rather sunbathe, stroll, paddle or rockpool than surf, Newquay has miles upon miles of beautiful beaches to explore – try a day each at Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, Great Western, Towan or Tregurrian, where you can also try adventurous activities like kayaking, scuba diving or kitesurfing.

On land, Cornwall's an active place and has plenty of options for the energetic, like rock climbing, cycling, mountain biking, abseiling or up and down hikes along the peaks of the South West Coast Path.
