What customers say
This is a small, friendly, and exceptionally clean campsite with helpful staff, offering a peaceful atmosphere. Guests praise the spacious pitches, good facilities including hot showers and a well-stocked shop, and the bonus of a warm indoor swimming pool. Its excellent location is ideal for walking to Marazion and St Michael's Mount. While some noted dated facilities and occasional Wi-Fi charges, the overall experience is highly positive, with many visitors expressing a desire to return.

From tent campers - site is outdated and overpriced.
Electric grass campervan or tent pitch (large)
Liked The location is good if you don’t have very young children and are happy to drive to nearby attractions. The showers had excellent water pressure, a proper thermostatic mixer instead of a push-button timer, and hot water was available 24/7, which was greatly appreciated. The flowers around the site were well maintained and the old red telephone box converted into a little library was a lovely touch.
Disliked Overall, the campsite feels outdated and in need of significant investment and maintenance.
The most concerning issue is safety. There is a large pine tree in the middle of the camping field with partially broken branches hanging overhead. Children were playing underneath it and adults were sitting nearby. This should be dealt with urgently before someone gets seriously injured.
Lighting at night is also very poor. The old lamps provide very little light, and the walk from the camping field to the toilet block is downhill and quite dark. Better lighting would make the site much safer.
The pitches are far too close together. We had no more than about 40 cm between our tent and our neighbours. We could hear every conversation, every cough and every other noise late into the night, leaving almost no privacy.
The owners should also think more carefully about pitch allocation. As a family with young children, we were placed next to overgrown stinging nettles and a large pile of old cut grass dumped over raspberry or wild strawberry bushes. It didn’t look pleasant and certainly didn’t smell pleasant either.
We arrived on Wednesday and one of the two ladies’ showers already had a loose wall hook, meaning towels and clothes kept falling off. I reported it on Sunday, but had to remind the owners again on Tuesday because by Monday it had broken completely. The response felt rather abrupt, saying that someone was already looking for a suitable solution. A temporary over-the-door hook would have been an easy and inexpensive fix until a permanent repair could be made.
Having stayed at many campsites through Pitchup and elsewhere, including several in Cornwall this year and last year, it is difficult to understand how this campsite has such a high rating. Campsites in the same price range are generally clean, well maintained, technically sound and regularly updated. Here we found rust, dirt, numerous signs of neglected maintenance and many very cheap temporary-looking solutions.
The ground on our pitch was extremely difficult to get tent pegs into. While some of this may have been due to the weather, a paid camping pitch should still be properly prepared for guests.
As a business owner myself, I would genuinely recommend that the owners spend some time at the end of the season visiting other highly rated Pitchup campsites in a similar price category. It would be a valuable opportunity to see how successful sites maintain high standards and provide an excellent experience for all guests, not just those staying in the holiday lodges.
Charging extra for Wi-Fi also feels outdated. Most campsites now provide free Wi-Fi, especially in an area where mobile signal is already weak. Even the paid Wi-Fi here was not particularly impressive.
I also think it is misleading to advertise the campsite using photographs that appear to be many years old, as they do not accurately represent the current condition of the site.
Finally, customer service was disappointing. On several mornings the owner walked past guests without even saying good morning. Hospitality is about making people feel welcome, and unfortunately that was missing during our stay.
Sadly, based on our experience and comparisons with many similar campsites, we cannot recommend this campsite and we would not return.

A perfect pitch
Electric grass campervan or tent pitch (large)
Liked The site organisation, the friendly atmosphere, the cleanliness of the toilets and showers. The view of the sunset from my pitch was spectacular!
Disliked The pitch I had was a bit awkward to get my van in out of, because I'm not 100% with it and my neighbours decided to park right on the line both sides! But that's a me issue 😜

From the manager: We totally agree with you E, the sunsets are very pretty from the camping meadow. Just a short walk from the pitches is a view overlooking the whole of Mounts Bay and St Michael’s Mount, which is spectacular with or without a sunset. We hope you have got more acquainted with your campervan and enjoy more adventures together this summer.

From the manager: Marina, thank you for scoring the park highly in your review. We are delighted that you would recommend us to friends and like to visit again. All the staff would love to welcome you back to Marazion town.
There are far nicer sites at similar price-points.

Liked Proximity to the coast, beaches and villages.
Disliked Proximity to a very busy road that bikers seemed to treat as their own personal race track.
Its certainly not a peaceful site and I wouldn't describe it as a holiday 'park' either.
WiFi - has to be paid for unless you stay in one of the chalets which seems very unfair.
Indoor pool was far too warm and stuffy.

From the manager: Sarah, thank you for your review; all feedback is valued. We’re pleased to read that you liked the proximity of the park to the coast. The swimming pool is normally something that our visitors love as it is kept at a nice warm temperature. With the insanely hot weather that the country has experience this July, the sandy beach of Marazion and cool clear sea, has been favoured more than the heat and humidity of indoor swimming pools.
The self-catering holiday lodges all have free Wi-Fi along with smart TV’s too. These guests pay a premium to include their home comforts while on holiday and have chosen a different ‘package’ to you. We feel it is fair to our lovely camping guests to have the option to purchase Wi-Fi and not factor this into the nightly rate, as so many people have mobile date now.
Within a short distance to the park, there’s a doctors’ surgery, community centre and children’s playground where the maximum speed limit is 20mph. Many of our guests walk this way to Marazion town as well as the pub too.
Again, thank you for sharing your experience and wishing you a lovely summertime.

Liked Generous size pitch (especially having a hedge to one side), bathrooms had good showers and hair-drying facilities in the ladies. Well equipped shop, friendly staff.
We spent a lovely week at Wheal Rodney, and can say with certainty it's the best campsite we have visited in Cornwall. So much so, we will be back!
Disliked Pool changing rooms weren't of the same standard (cleanliness and decor) as the rest of the facilities.
Guest wifi, while it had a strong signal most of the time, was lacking in speed - my 4g data connection was more reliable at times, which was a little frustrating given the cost of the wifi connection.

From the manager: Thanks for staying with us and posting a lovely review too, Martyn and J. To rate us your best campsite in Cornwall means so very much to us all. Thank you both, we are over the moon! We’ll definitely get the tech team to take a look at the Wi-Fi; thanks for pointing this out. Wishing you a very happy summer and hope to see you again soon.
