  • Family-friendly campsite in a Cornish apple orchard by the Fowey river
  • A 15-minute drive to the Eden Project; 25 minutes to Fowey
  • Spacious grass pitches with fishing, boating, walks and pubs close by
St Winnow Campsite is a back-to-basics spot at a working farm and boat yard, with a gorgeous setting right on the banks of the Fowey river. It’s perfectly located for woodland walks, as well as sailing in the tidal Fowey Estuary. There’s masses of space in the two-acre apple orchard, where grass pitches lead directly down to the river, so you can fish for mullet and bass, or play around on kayaks or paddleboards. You’ve also got easy access to circular trails leading to Lostwithiel and Lerryn, cute riverside hamlets both an hour’s stroll away. For longer hikes, the South West Coast Path passes through Fowey, while serious cyclists and runners can join the Camel Trail at Bodmin (25 minutes’ drive). Simple amenities at each pitch include a firepit, allocated loo facilities and drinking water. You can park by your own pitch, family groups can camp together, and of course, well-behaved dogs are permitted upon prior request. If you’d rather not get involved in cooking (it’s your holiday too) at the site, there are plenty of cosy cafés for afternoon tea (jam before clotted cream in Cornwall, please), pasty shops and seafront restaurants serving boat-to-table seafood in Fowey (25 minutes).
