  • Cosy converted horse box on a quiet Cornwall farm
  • Looe, Siblyback Lake and Carnglaze Caverns within a half-ahour drive
  • Private hot tub and outdoor kitchen; views over Bodmin Moor
Cornwall’s coast often gets much of the glory, but there’s a whole lot of fabulous scenery inland too – as you’ll quickly learn when you stay at Fanolas Farm. This quiet little spot is tucked away between Bodmin Moor and the Tamar Valley National Landscape, which should give you something of a hint that this is an attractive location indeed. There’s a very remote, hidden-away vibe here, with fabulous views over farmland to Bodmin Moor – just the kind of place where you can really chill out and soak up a bit of rural peace. But with Liskeard and Callington both about 15 minutes’ drive away you won’t be far from shops, supermarkets and other amenities when you need them. There are four pubs (all serving food) within four miles too, and the area is well supplied with cafés, tearooms and farm shops. Those towns and farm shops will likely come in very handy for supplying ingredients to cook up back at the farm, where you’ll have both a mini indoor kitchen and an outdoor kitchen shelter with a barbecue to cook on and a table for dining. Those aren’t the only facilities at your solar-powered accommodation – you’ll be staying in a cosy converted horse lorry with a double bed, a woodburning stove and a full bathroom with shower and flushing toilet. It’s set in its own secluded paddock, so you’ll have plenty of peace and privacy when you decide to have a soak in your open-air wood-fired hot tub.

Bodmin Moor is your closest area for outdoor pursuits, with top spots including Hurlers Stone Circles (10 minutes’ drive), The Cheesewring and Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve (both 15 minutes) making good places for a walk. There’s also fishing and watersports at Siblyback Lake (15 minutes) or alpaca trekking with Moor View Alpacas (25 minutes). Elsewhere nearby, you could head underground at Carnglaze Caverns (25 minutes), sign up for adventures at Adrenalin Quarry (25 minutes) or explore the famed plant-filled domes of the Eden Project (40 minutes).
