  • Boutique Shepherd's Hut with Wood Fired Hot Tub
  • Amazing Views over the Cornish countryside
  • Luxury interior with ensuite
When you’re looking for a romantic Cornish escape for two with stunning views and tip-top luxurious touches, then it’s time to consider a stay at Hurdon Down Farm. Five minutes’ drive from historic Launceston, the locally made wooden hut is tucked away in its own garden area for extra privacy and has an interior chock-full of designer touches. Decked out with a double induction hob, top-grade appliances and a mini-fridge, the hut’s kitchen also comes with a Nespresso machine and pods. A unique pull-down bed system turns your living and dining area into a full-size double bed, complete with luxury bedding for cosy nights in. Robes, towels and complimentary toiletries are found in the shower room, as well as a chic blue-marble basin, towel rail and heater – so it’s always snug whatever the weather. The self-contained hut is heated by woodburning stove (wood is supplied) and connected to mains power and drainage. Super-fast wifi, a full phone signal and 4G allow you to keep in touch with the outside world (should you really need to). Outside you can laze on your own private patio with views over Cornish farmland, up the romance factor with a soak in the hot tub (robes supplied, please note the hot tub takes four hours to get to temperature) and relax by the firepit well into the evening, with starry skies for company on cloudless nights.

Local attractions

When a day at the beach is what you’re after, Hurdon Down is close to the main A30, giving easy access to the North Cornwall coastline. Crackington Haven (half an hour) is a tiny cliff-backed cove, and there are rock pools and swimming spots at Widemouth Bay (35 minutes). Surfers can jump on the waves at Bude (40 minutes), and walkers amble sections of the South West Coast Path (half an hour) for soaring views of hidden coves and sandy stretches. Keen hikers may also like to follow trails up to Leskernick Stone Circle (20 minutes) on Bodmin Moor, and equally well soon be walking to rocky tors in Dartmoor National Park (half an hour). While you’re there, admire the dramatic cascades at Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park (55 minutes), or tour the art deco rooms at Castle Drogo (40 minutes). Need more inspiration? Spend the day discovering tropical plants and wacky sculptures at The Eden Project (40 minutes), or tour the flour mill and water wheel at National Trust-owned Cotehele (half an hour). Potter around the old boat harbour at Morwellham Quay (25 minutes), and then take a mini-train ride into the former tin mine.
