  • Quiet glamping site in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Five minutes’ drive to Praa Sands; half an hour to Tate St Ives
  • Luxury pods with spectacular country and coast views; walks from site
When it comes to glamping in Cornwall, the smart pods at Tregonning Burrows Glamping are something rather special. Set in four acres of private pasture at the foot of Tregonning Hill, they have several claims to fame, what with being in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and also part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, with lots of mining relics within easy walking distance. The pods are heated and insulated to keep the chills at bay, sleep up to four and are accessible to everyone. Each features a king-size bed with Egyptian cotton bedding, a large sofa bed, a compact dining space and a kitchen with a fridge, two-ring hob, oven and Belfast sink. There are also some very welcome bonuses: spacious ensuite wet rooms; a hanging area for clothes and storage under the beds; outside boot rooms so you don’t get mud in the pods; and Bluetooth speaker systems for music and TVs. On arrival, you’ll be greeted with a welcome pack of Cornish goodies – including the wherewithal to make a Cornish cream tea (home-baked scones, Cornish jam and clotted cream). When you’re not out and about sampling the best Cornwall has to offer in food at restaurants local to Tregonning Burrows – there are several within 15 minutes’ drive – dine alfresco at your own picnic table or on your sheltered decking with spectacular views stretching as far as St Michael’s Mount and Penzance.

Local attractions

Start your Cornish adventure by scaling Tregonning Hill direct from your pod; the rewards will be views to both coastlines – with St Ives Bay and Penzance visible on clear days. To learn more about Cornwall’s mining heritage, stop off at Great Work Mine (15 minutes’ walk), or visit the National Trust-owned Godolphin Estate (10 minutes’ drive) to tour the ghost house abandoned when mining ceased in the 19th century and wander around the medieval gardens. Visit the medieval castle atop St Michael’s Mount (15 minutes), accessible across the bay from lively Marazion (10 minutes), a pretty seaside town packed with art galleries and craft shops. On the north coast, arty types can see the best of contemporary painting at Tate St Ives or have a wander around alfresco installations at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden (both half an hour). If the beach is calling, Praa Sands (five minutes) is found in a sweeping bay backed by dunes, while the popular fishing village of Porthleven (10 minutes) has sands popular with experienced surfers – as well as several acclaimed pubs and restaurants for when it’s time to put your feet up with a pint of Cornish cider.

Camping pod (disabled friendly)

Liked: Myself and my partner stayed here for his 19th birthday, when we arrived and walked in to the pod it’s absolutely beautiful. The kitchen area was perfect and fully equipped with everything that you needed. The bedding on the king size bed was the most comfortable and luxurious bedding that i have ever slept in, myself and my partner did not have one bed night sleep. We both slept like an absolute dream! The walk in shower room was the best, it was so spacious and the water pressure from the shower was amazing! Even tho the weather was very down in the dumps for most of the time we spent there the whole pod that we stayed in was lovely and warm without heating! It’s a very well equipped pod and the best couple of nights sleep that i have had in a very long time. There is outside seating area infront of each pod and a box full of activities for the children if you decide to bring them along with you! I would 1000% recommend this to anyone who are wanting to stay anywhere in cornwall. Claire is an absolutely lovely lady who has amazing knowledge of the surrounding areas and was a great help with finding things to do. You get given an information booklet in the pod which has so much to do in and placed to go and eat. She was so friendly and really did enjoy having a wonderful chat with her, we are planning on coming back again next year!
