  • Lizard Peninsula site less than a mile from Kennack Sands
  • Small and peaceful site with a relaxed family feel
  • Well-established parkland with plenty of open space
If your heart is set on some lounging around the Lizard (the peninsula at Cornwall’s most southerly point), hightail it down to Silver Sands Holiday Park, where you can expect a warm-blooded welcome and natural attractions on an epic scale. Whether you plan on simply basking in the sun, or scampering about and getting your claws into Cornwall, this site is an excellent base. It’s just a half-mile skip down a pretty wooded path through the Lizard Nature Reserve to spectacular Kennack Sands, a fab family beach which allows dogs at its eastern end, and the area surrounding the park is full of hidden smugglers’ coves, scenic coastal villages and glorious beaches. Silver Sands is a small and peaceful site with a relaxed family feel; canine visitors are welcome, provided they're properly supervised.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Pitches were very specious, park was gorgeous and well kept, bathroom was modern and clean, bus stop was a 10 minute walk through the top field to the Lizard and Kennack Beach was a 10 minute walk from the park entrance - staff were helpful and friendly, even leaving the children a chocolate Easter egg early Sunday morning… lovely touch!! Thank you for a great stay, we will definitely be back.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a fantastic stay at Silver Sands campsite. The pitches were massive, giving everyone plenty of space, and the whole site was spotless with excellent facilities throughout.

There’s also a lovely walk down to the beach, which made the location even more special. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the little extra touches really made a difference our kids were especially grateful for the Easter eggs left for them, which was such a thoughtful gesture.

We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Silver Sands and would highly recommend it to families looking for a clean, spacious and friendly campsite.

Disliked nothing..

Liked We love this site. Been several times before camping in a tent, this time we went with our camper van. Lovely big spacious pitches. The newly refurbished shower block was excellent. The site always looks immaculately cared for and clean. Its a great touring spot for all around the Lizard peninsula. Will be back!

tidy . Good location for beach and travelling around

Fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked This visit was our third this year, we loved it the first time in May, booked for middle of July, then again end of august.
We received the same warm welcome on this visit as we did on our first. The location and peaceful atmosphere is amazing. It is the kind of place that attracts a really nice friendly group of people.
It’s fantastic for the children who come with their families, there’s a play park, sand pit, and area for tots.
Because the site is not a massive busy site, there is only need for one facilities block, it has a laundrette, wash up area with a fridge freezer for guest use. A family bathroom, and then the ladies and gents shower and toilets. Around the back of the facilities is the cassette emptying point. They are not brand new, but are kept very clean, the water pressure is fab in the showers, the toilets flush very efficiently.
We love the location to the dog friendly beach, it’s just about 10 miles s walk downhill through a wooded area to the beach.
There are all the supermarkets available in Helston, which is about a 20 minute Drive, there’s also restaurants, take aways, pubs there. Or just a short walk over the fields takes you to kuggar that has potters bar, a cafe, Thai takeaway I think is Thursday/Friday and Saturday from 5pm.
All in all, we love the site.

Electric grass touring pitch

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The pitch was spot on, flat, sheltered from the wind and right next to an electric point. The pitch was in a really dark area so at night the stars were on full display and you could hear the sea. The site wasn’t rammed full of tents so it was really nice. We had bats out above the tent in the evening, a very friendly Robbin in the hedge that knew when breakfast would be and cows in the next field. The kids play area is really quite good and there are freezers in the washing block for your cold blocks.

Disliked The toilet block is quite tired and small for the size of the site and it’s a 20 min drive to the Supermarket in Helston if you run out of supplies. The walk to the beach is down a very worn and uneven path with a long drag back up a steep rocky hill if you have any mobility issues. The Wi-Fi on site kept dropping out which drove the kids up the wall.

Local attractions

Aside from the beach within walking distance at Kennack Sands, Silver Sands Holiday Park is also close to one of the most stunning beach locations in Cornwall: Kynance Cove, whose turquoise waters could have been lifted from a postcard from the Med. Water babies can make the most of the milder sea temperatures (thanks to the Gulf Stream) and try diving, surfing or windsurfing at any one of the tuition centres along the local coast. Porthkerris beach has a family-run dive centre that is particularly renowned for its shore dives, and boat dives to local wrecks or to swim with basking sharks; it also has a comprehensive range of PADI scuba instruction. Walking enthusiasts can fill their boots with rambles along the stunning coastline to the Lizard point and beyond, or head inland, where a favourite expedition is along the banks of the Helford river, followed by a short hop on the ferry to the eponymous Ferry Boat Inn, for some well-earned refreshment overlooking the water. There’s all kind of fishy business nearby for those angling for a bit of action: freshwater fishing at Garras, beach fishing or sea-fishing trips from one of the local ports. Check out the iconic St Michael’s Mount or one of the other National Trust properties in the vicinity; garden groupies are spoilt for choice too, with many glorious green spots in the area including Glendurgan, Trevarno and Trebah Gardens, particularly spectacular in the earlier part of the year, when wild bluebells and primroses spring into bloom and there are amazing displays of camellias and azaleas. The area around Silver Sands is stuffed with fab family attractions for all ages too, from the doe-eyed beauties at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek to the swashbuckling fun of Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum or the exotic animals of Paradise Park.
