  • Peaceful farm site with great views of Cornwall's countryside
  • Helston, Porthleven and Flambards Theme Park within 10 minutes' drive
  • Great area for walks and bike rides around the Helford river
Whether it’s castles, cycling or coastal jaunts that take your liking, let Boskenwyn Manor Farm introduce you to this quiet corner of the Cornwall countryside. The peaceful pitches have gorgeous views all around and sublime scenery isn’t short here… Between Helston and Gweek, around five minutes’ drive away, the site is well supplied with useful local amenities and a splendid area for walkers and bike riders. There are several traffic-free paths that will let you mark out your way through the surrounding countryside or along the nearby banks of the Helford river. You might prefer to clamber about the coast path, a couple of miles away, for walks around the fishing village of Porthleven, or hit the beaches and trails of the Lizard Peninsula within a few miles’ drive of the site. Whatever you get up to, be assured that there’s plenty of space to relax back on site, as there’s only ever a handful of guests at the farm at any one time. Facilities have been kept to just the basics, but they’re well looked after – a bespoke bathroom block has two toilets and two showers along with mains water supply. There’s also a recycling point and a grey water disposal area.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: A really well maintained, small and tidy site. Tom the owner is lovely and cares a lot for the place. The facilities are well made and kept clean with nice touches such as washing up liquid provided.

Disliked: The portable fridge / freezer is solar powered and has no battery back up. Therefore on cloudy days or overnight it has no power and defrosts and warms up, not really suitable for purpose. Showers are high powered but didn't get hotter than lukewarm, despite the taps all having boiling hot water.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Loved the toilet facilities, clean and well lit. Great washing up area, they even have washing bowls, washing liquid and a sponge just incase you've forgotten anything.

Disliked: Not a dislike as we will deffo be visiting again but if they could improve on anything it would be the bbq area could do with a lil more. Could do with a bench closer and maybe raised slabs or bbq pit.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Small clean site with generously sized allocated level pitches. Great washing/shower/toilet facilities. Only a few other campers and nice quiet people. Location good for lots of places including the Lizard, Falmouth etcand Helston with supermarkets only a few miles away

Disliked: Nothing about the site itself and the narrow approach lanes weren’t an issue for us. There was a lot of noise at night from helicopters at RNAS Culdrose but only one night did it keep us awake

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Very quiet, beautifully kept, fabulous toilet block, excellent value. The handwash in the toilets was fabulous! Exfoliating and lovely smell! Even though it rained a bit, the field was not at all boggy.

Disliked: The showers. The push button was a bit annoying and they veered from cold to hot all the time.

Liked: Everything! I loved how small this campsite was, as a terrible spider whimp I really appreciated how clean and well kept the facilities were. I loved the solar charging station and although I didn't use it, there was a freezer unit for ice packs which was a fantastic idea. And all run on solar!! Warm running water to wash up, and even the smaller details like an exfoliating hand wash! Just perfect!

Disliked: A very very small criticism and honestly it's so minor but I thought I'd mention so people are aware. The showers turn off far to quickly, they are are the sort of showers that you get at swimming pools, push the button and when the button pops up it turns off. Make sure you take something that keeps the shower on for a bit 😊 Honestly though, the campsite was so worth it this is only a very minor thing. We would return in a heartbeat!

Local attractions

Those of you who are set on getting to know some of Cornwall's history will be well-set from this site. The Museum of Cornish Life (five minutes’ drive) will get you off to a good start with a look at Cornwall in the 19th and 20th centuries… the Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection (10 minutes) will take you down into the tunnels of an 18th-century tin mine… and out on St Michael’s Mount (25 minutes) over the causeway, there are legends all the way back to 495AD. After some sand between your toes? Praa Sands (20 minutes) has heaps, so get to sandcastle building, surfing or whatever else takes your fancy on this family-friendly beach. For somewhere quieter, Kynance Cove (half an hour) might fit the bill. This National Trust-managed cove is particularly pretty. For more things from the Cornish coast, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (five minutes) keeps rescued grey seal pups. Looking to unwind somewhere inland? Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes) is packed with all sorts of rides, good news for families or the Trebah Garden (20 minutes) is a sub-tropical haven – with views of the sea still, but plenty to do on or offshore.
