Boscrege Caravan and Touring Park: On the way to the camping area

General

  • Basic campsite at the foot of Tregonning Hill
  • Two miles from Praa Sands and five from Helston
  • Several countryside walks starting from the site

Serenity seekers, set yourselves down away from Cornish crowds at Boscrege Caravan and Touring Park, set up for families and couples to have a peaceful and quiet Cornwall break. This simple park is family-owned and run, and takes pride in putting the convenience and comfort of guests at its fore: it looks like a cosy and relaxing time awaits.

Boscrege is in a handy placement from which to explore the beaches, lovely landscapes, myths, legends and attractions of west Cornwall too: the furry dances of Helston are five miles away, Flambards is within eight, and the mile-long golden sandy stretch of gorgeous Praa Sands within about two. More practically, all the amenities you'll likely need are within five miles.

This is a birdwatching and wildlife haven too, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Tregonning Hill and the National Trust-managed Godolphin Hill – and if you're here for hikes, several walks start head out into the Cornish countryside from just by the park.

Boscrege welcomes dogs and has an enclosed dog exercise area on site. Please note that there are no toilet or shower facilities.

We arrived late and the owners were very helpful and personally showed us to our pitch. This was a nice quiet park which is just what we wanted. The site is a bit in the middle of nowhere with narrow lanes, so it was best to try and get back to the pitch before dark. The toilet block was not open but we had been warned of this before we booked, so no complaints. The wifi was pay as you go and a bit hit and miss. The best time to log on was 3.00am !

    Disliked:

There was no mobile phone signal.

There was little to like at this site- facilities have been withdrawn and the site looks very tired

    Disliked:

Toilet and showers were removed in between me booking site and arrival and whilst this is now clearly marked on the Website, I was not informed of this change despite the owners having my details. This spoiled my holiday as I had no toilet and shower available within my small caravan and when I tried to discuss this with the owner she was rude, arrogant and had absolutely no empathy for the inconvenience that she caused us. She barked at me that she would give me my money back. I refused this straight away as I understand the pressures that Covid has brought to small businesses All I wanted from her was an acknowledgment of our inconvenience and maybe a small gesture of goodwill ( I suggested a Wi-fi pass was the sort of thing that I thought would have been appropriate and appreciated). She didn’t want to agree with anything and spent the whole conversation with me with her arms folded and seeming confrontational. I suggested that I would leave the matter with her to consider and could she please get back to me later in my stay . She never did. So we left a day early our holiday well and truest spoiled

We liked the peacefulness of the site, and that the play area was in direct site from the caravan.

    Disliked:

We were disappointed that there were no toilet/shower facilities as we were expecting them to be available after restrictions was lifted. I hadn't realised they were still unavailable but it did say as such on the pitchup site, I just hadn't checked since booking.
Some of the lanes were a bit tight but to be expected in Cornwall!

    everything🤩
clean peaceful, site with so much room for the kids to play, explore, and have fun, really peaceful site with around 40ish touring/camper van pitches and around 20 statics. staff always around if you needed them, issue with electric one day but they called an electrician out and was all stored quickly, (this was a couple of days after the huge storm that hit cornwall bad, just great full it was sorted so quickly and we weren’t wiped out completely)

some of the roads are quite tight around the camp site but lorry’s and tractors manage it fine and so did we with our caravan , the site web site tells you the best and safest rout to take, but if you just take the fastest route on google it has no idea how big your vechal is and doesn’t care what the roads are like so follow the sites directions and you will have no issues,

praa sands beach is 2 miles away and takes about 8 min to drive to. their is plenty of parking and very cheap, our fav beach by far as all others were either to busy or limited parking so big bonus it was our nearest beach, icecream shop and par selling food and take away on the beach to also toilets.

no toilets and showers on site but this was in bold righting on pitch up back in april. this site doesn’t have camping pitches so doesn’t need to offer showers and toilets so if you don’t have then in your van then don’t book, we did hence why we booked, if you want these facility’s then pay the ££££ more that you will end up paying else wear.

laundry faculty’s on-site were great, they even supply a freezer in their for you to use if you needed it. washing lines pegs and iron is also supplied, which was a nice touch to help dry towels after the beach,

we met some lovely people on site and was lovely to sit out chatting watching the kids play

would i recommend? yes i would it’s probably my favourite site yet,

ignor the bad comments and enjoy the site. and in my experience always read the terms and conditions, sites are not hear to babysits their visitors ( i loved that you let us be )

thank you boscrege you were amazing

Local attractions

You'll need a car if staying at Boscrege, as the nearest bus stop is a mile away and services in the rural parts of Cornwall aren't too frequent.

But once you've set off, pretty much everything you might fancy in south-west Cornwall is within easy reach: it's two miles to Praa Sands from here, eight to the Lizard Peninsula, nine to St Ives and 10 to Mousehole. A must is getting your pic snapped at the Land's End signpost 20 miles away.

The National Trust's Godolphin, a 17th-century house with 16th-century gardens, is also easily reachable from the site; subtropical plants thrive at Morrab Gardens, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are to the east near St Austell.

Must see

  • St Michael's Mount (4.8 miles)
  • Flambards (5.4 miles)
  • National Seal Sanctuary (7.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Godolphin (1.2 miles)
  • Penrose Estate: Gunwalloe and Loe Pool (4.2 miles)
