  • Secluded adults-only shepherd's hut in an orchard near Falmouth
  • Trebah Garden 10 minutes' drive; 15 minutes to South West Coast Path
  • Private outdoor bath; kitchen, barbecue and ensuite shower room
What a gorgeous little spot for a romantic getaway… or a creative retreat… or just some well-earned ‘me time’. Whatever it is that draws you to the idea of a cosy little Cornwall countryside stay, you'll have found a fabulous place for it at Eathorne Manor. Peace, quiet and comfort are guaranteed here – there’s just the one shepherd's hut at this site, so no neighbours other than the wildlife that passes by. It's a completely private setup too, with the shepherd’s hut tucked away in an apple orchard and surrounded by trees, rose bushes and wild grasses. That secluded atmosphere is sure to draw you out into the open air, perhaps for drinks on your pretty patio, an evening of cooking on the barbecue or a fabulously relaxed soak in the outdoor bath – all surrounded by greenery and atmospheric festoon lights. The inside of the hut is equally lovely, however – it’s a cosy adults-only space with a dash of luxury and painted in relaxing neutral tones. As well as a comfy bed, it's also got an ensuite shower room and a well-equipped kitchen (with hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster). A wood-burning stove and electric heater keep everything nice and warm inside, and there’s wifi so you can plan your days out, stream some music or send pics of your little retreat out to the wider world. You may well want to spend much of your break just hanging out here – but if you do venture out, you'll be able to get to Falmouth, the Helford river or Trebah Garden with a 10-minute drive.

Local attractions

You’ll probably need to pop into Falmouth (10 minutes' drive) for provisions at some point, so it's a good idea to explore more widely while you're here, perhaps visiting Pendenni Castle, hitting the sands of Gyllyngvase Beach or signing up for one of the boat trips or watersports activities in town. There are plenty of lovely places to eat and drink here too. For rural rambles you'll have the choice of wandering through nearby ancient temperate rainforest, strolling along the banks of the Helford river or picking a section of the South West Coast Path (the section from Maenporth, 15 minutes away, to Swanpool is a nice choice). Gorgeous wanders can also be had at Trebah Garden (10 minutes), where the subtropical gardens run down to a private beach. Other days out might take you to test your climbing skills at Via Ferrata Cornwall (three minutes), to meet cute animals at The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary and Cornish Seal Sanctuary (both 10 minutes).
