Trevolankan Farm: Pitches field

General

  • Green countryside and eco-friendly site with its own livery
  • A 10-minute drive from Camborne and 20 to Hayle and Porthleven beaches
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Flambards, Paradise Park and Poldark

Ahhh, Cornwall: it’s a cracker. And Trevolankan Farm, a 10-minute drive from the town of Camborne? Truly a fab place to stay in this fine English county.

A well-maintained and peaceful site, Trevolankan is on a rare-breed farm and is boosted by environmental credentials in the form of composting toilets, eco-friendly showers, solar lighting and water sourced from its own borehole. It’s also in grassy surrounds with sea views in the distance, under a 25-minute drive from the coastline of St Ives Bay.

On site a livery means you can bring your horse along for a hol... but if you’ve not got pets, you can still have some animal antics during your trip with a glimpse of the rare breeds reared on the farm, from hefty Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs to Valais blacknose sheep (which are also up for sale if you want to have a go at caring for your own…).

If that sounds like a little too much effort, head over to Paradise Park animal park (15 minutes’ drive away) for meets and greets with 130 species including pygmy goats and penguins, as well as chances to check out tropical birds like toucans and kookaburras along with local red-billed Cornish choughs.

The play centre at Paradise is popular with kids; treat them to a runaround followed with a go on the rides at Flambards Theme Park, a 15-minute drive from the site. Small sorts also tend to be taken with the creatures at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, 20 minutes away…

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

This is a really beautiful campsite in a quiet area. There are only four, well spaced pitches, so with this and the campsite being adults-only it is nice and quiet and not crowded. The compost loo and eco shower were much better than expected, and the farm being a rare breeds farm means there are lots of interesting animals about - plus the farm shop has all sorts (including jewelry and cakes!). The owners are really friendly and welcoming too.

Spectacular views from a gorgeous, quiet site.31/08/2021

An absolutely gorgeous campsite with spectacular views. Compostable toilets, clean and hot showers, sink and drinking water tap all within a very short walk from all the pitches. The pitches were clearly marked out and well spaced, they felt private and they were all level which meant a decent nights sleep. Sunrise and sunset views and the most incredible spot to see the stars on a clear night. A working farm, there are sheep nearby on site, chickens and horses on a neighboring farm which children in particular might enjoy. Rob and Kate provided firepits and we bought some logs and kindling from their small farm shop. They also had freshly baked cakes to buy, fresh eggs and vegetables. We enjoyed all three! We initially booked for 3 nights and then extended our stay by another 4! Keen surfers, this farm is located perfectly to drive to Sennen, Praa Sands, Gwithian and St. Ives. Recommended for travellers by car or bike. Can't wait to come back again soon!

The Location..its great. On a quiet farm in the countryside with amazing sunset view over the church. Away from the hustle and bustle of busy resort towns but still close enough to go see all the sights and beaches.

The pitches..they’re huge which are beautifully landscaped and complete with fire pit. And only 4 pitches (I think).

The facilities..One compost toilet (if you’ve never used one before don’t be frightened..so much nicer than a portaloo and better for environment). Also it was always really clean. One shower which was clean and decent. And a little utility area with sink and gas hob.

The animals..loved hearing the hens in the morning and seeing the horses at the fence.

The honesty shop..Has logs, kiddling and firefighters. Also stocks fresh eggs, veg, cakes, meat and more. Was very cute down by the stables!

Dog friendly..we have a dog, speaks for itself.

And finally the hosts themselves..so friendly, welcoming and chill.

We had a great stay at this campsite! It was so peaceful and surrounded by great views. There was lots of space per pitch and the toilet and shower were always really clean. Rob and Kate were lovely and helpful hosts! The only thing I would suggest is a mirror in the shower, and possibly a little shelf for toilet bags when the floor gets wet. But I would highly recommend this for a real back-to-nature staycation :)

Local attractions

When in Cornwall, it’d be a crime not to lope around the local beaches – so journey over to Hayle and Porthleven, both under a 25-minute drive away, to swim in the sea and bask on the sand.

If skin needs protecting from the rays, get underground at the Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection (10 minutes), an old tin mine where explores can be embarked on.

Back in the sunshine, ambles around the woodland, coastline and parkland of Penrose’s National Trust lakeside estate are 15 minutes by car, while the island of St Michael’s Mount (25 minutes) can be accessed via a manmade granite causeway (depending on the tide times) for seaside strolls.

Keeping to the coast, the fab fishing village of St Ives – a go-to for art galleries and seal-spotting boat trips – is 25 minutes' drive. Try to time your visit for a performance at the Minack Theatre on the clifftops, surely one of the most scenic places in the country to catch a show…
