  • Family park set over 50 acres on a hilltop overlooking Widemouth Bay
  • A short drive from the surf schools and beach at Bude
  • Free heated pool, free wifi, clubhouse, kids' club and bar
Free! The price of zilch is what you’ll pay to keep the kids happy at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park a few miles from Bude, which is bound to result in wide-mouthed grins for all concerned... This large and lively family park has kids’ clubs run by the cunning Foxy, free evening entertainment by the Stripey Coats, crazy golf to go loopy at and an indoor heated pool, which are also…free. As is the wifi in the clubhouse. Huzzah. Widemouth Bay Caravan Park’s location is also pretty smilesome: on a hilltop overlooking the Cornish countryside and the fab Widemouth Bay with its three miles of sand. There are over 50 acres to lose yourself in around the park and pretend you never have to go home, with the takeaway, well-stocked shop and tasty meals at the bar keeping you sorted for nosh and a launderette looking after the essentials. Looking for yet more things to do on site? Challenge the kids on the amusements or show them how to hustle on the pool table – letting them beat you should result in even more wide smiles…

What customers say

This is a very hilly site, with many pitches on a slope, but guests appreciate the wonderful sea views, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent on-site facilities including a swimming pool and clubhouse with entertainment. Cleanliness of facilities is generally praised, though some comment on them being dated. The location is convenient for the beach and local towns. Some visitors experienced issues with noise, dated facilities, and the hilly terrain, with a few indicating they would not return.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Staff were very friendly, location was close to Bude.

Disliked Facilities were good but dated and need repair. We thought we would have a choice of where to pitch, but were given a space, opposite camper vans and caravans, which kept us up with constant banging of doors throughout the night, and being very close to the road. Disappointed

Electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked Pitches were spacious, club house was very nice and clean, whole place was clean too. Entertainment for the kids was good.

Disliked Pitches were very uneven, we felt like we was always rolling down a hill. Need another toilet block as that is a very long walk with children when they need to go. Tryed to use the electric hook up on site, which was not working. Pad £7 for WiFi which did not work.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great place great location. Very helpful!

Disliked Electric hook up did not work so spent hours trying to figuring that out. But staff lent longer wires with a cash deposit and a phone power packs to to tie us over! Staff took my wire away and left it in the rain so have to buy a new one.
Ending up leaving a day early!

Electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked The girl dealing with the tourers was absolutely fantastic, couldn't do more for us.

Disliked The pitches are extremely sloped. Our pitch was a bog, I would say it should have been made unavailable like some of the others where. The pool was absolutely disgusting

Local attractions

Widemouth Bay is where you’ll find the surf: if you’re new to launching yourself happily into the waves there are surf and bodyboarding schools dotted all around here and Bude, and Newquay is within 50 minutes' drive. Bude less than 10 minutes by car has a couple of excellent beaches: Summerleaze, to have a dip in the sea pool at the bottom of the cliffs and to bag a beach hut for hire so you can pretend for one fleeting afternoon that it’s your very own, and Crooklets, which you can reach by a short stroll from Summerleaze Down. Both beaches, and the sea pool at Summerleaze, are lifeguarded. The staff at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park recommends a car to see the best of Cornwall, but you won’t have very far to drive to reach most of the main hotspots: the Eden Project is about 50 minutes away, and Tintagel, legendary home of King Arthur and Merlin, is just along the coast.
