  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Bude and its several beaches
  • Well-behaved dogs welcome; one mile from a pub
When beaches, Bude and Cornwall are on your mind, it's time to book yourself a stay at Ossington Farm Camping, a family-friendly pop-up site that's within a quarter of an hour's drive of the Cornish coast. Swimming spots, beachfront bars and top-tier restaurants can all be easily reached in the centre of bustling Bude (15 minutes), while this spot’s rural location also makes it easy to explore Cornwall's green interior. Ossington Farm Camping welcomes a range of comers, from families to bikers or couples with dogs (and there are certainly some great walks to be had for the latter in the surrounding area). The pitches here have access to some very well-maintained facilities, with all the basics like toilets, showers, washing-up sinks and washing machines covered. The farm is located in the hamlet of Launcells Cross, a mile away from a well-reviewed pub and restaurant that welcomes dogs in Red Post. Although it's in a rural location, the site is within a quarter of an hour's drive of supermarkets, bars, takeaways, a leisure centre and a garden centre, so you won't have to stray too far to keep yourself well provisioned throughout your stay.

Local attractions

The coast around Bude has a lot to keep visitors happy, with more than half a dozen examples of Cornwall's great sandy beaches in and around the town. The north coast of Devon and Cornwall is also a great place to learn to surf (or to perfect your technique), with surf schools either in Bude itself or further up the coast at Westward Ho! (45 minutes). For freshwater adventures, you're also within a quarter of an hour's drive of Tamar Lakes Activity Centre, where the options range from fishing or taking a walk around the water's edge (for those who prefer dry land) to paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing and other sports better suited to those who are happy to take the risk of getting wet. If you've brought any younger kids along to Ossington Farm Camping and are wondering how to keep them entertained, have a look at the Milky Way Adventure Park (30 minutes), Tamar Otter and Wildlife Centre (20 minutes), King Arthur's castle at Tintagel (30 minutes) or The Monster Slip And Slide Bude (15 minutes), a popular inflatables park.
