  • Simple but well-maintained Cornwall farm site in Poughill
  • A five-minute drive from Bude; 10 minutes from Widemouth Bay
  • Easy access from the Atlantic Highway (A39); lovely views all round
Most pleasant indeed are the surroundings at Mount Pleasant Camping – this small pop-up site in the village of Poughill looks out over the stunning north Cornwall coastline in one direction and has distant views of Bodmin Moor in the other… how’s that for a view or two? The farm site is mostly surrounded by grassland and arable fields, so mornings and evenings are lovely and peaceful. As a working farm with animals in the fields and due to a nearby repair garage, there may be some smells and noises on occasion during the daytime (and with the stunning surrounding grasslands, the location can also experience some wind). The village location is a handy one for proximity to a pub, and there are shops in Bude or Stratton, as well as a small shop and a fish and chips takeaway within 10 minutes' walk of the site. If you're looking out towards the coast, you’ve probably got the town of Bude in your sightline – it's about five minutes’ drive away and home to some of the area’s best beaches, especially if you’re into surfing. The farm is also only a little way from the Atlantic Highway (aka the A39), opening up the possibility of outings to all sorts of choice spots nearby, including Tintagel, Port Isaac and Bideford. Back at base, you’ll be staying on pleasantly level pitches with access to two clean unisex toilets, a warm shower, a washing-up area, a drinking water tap, a rubbish/recycling point and an Elsan point. When the weather is good, you may well be treated to gorgeous sunsets, good views and stunningly starry night skies while you’re here.

What customers say

This small, well-maintained site offers exceptional, far-reaching views over Bude and the coastline, with pitches described as large, flat, and clearly marked. Visitors consistently praise the cleanliness of the facilities, particularly the toilets and showers, and highlight the attentiveness and friendliness of the host. Easy access to walking routes, including a pleasant walk into Bude and to local pubs, is a significant draw. While the site is generally well-received and considered good value, some guests noted that the limited number of toilet and shower facilities might be an issue for longer stays.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review, it’s great to hear you enjoyed the views, dog walks, and facilities, and we’re delighted you’ve booked to return next week! Thankyou
We also really appreciate your feedback about the shower to us.
Just to mention: the showers are set to a safe temperature to accommodate guests of all ages and are on a timed push button (15 seconds), but we have provided a little red clip hanging on the button which can be used to keep the water running constantly. Hopefully that will make things more comfortable on your next visit. Looking forward to welcoming you back very soon!

A gem of a place for peace and tranquility! Welcoming friendly owner!

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked If you would like to get lost in a truly beautiful view and watch the sunset of an evening on a small, safe and friendly campsite this is the place!

Without a doubt one of the best I’ve been to!!! I’ve been to many campsites over the years in a tent or caravan and now I’m blessed to have a campervan and this is hands down a real gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The pitches are clean, well laid out and fantastic sizes! Room for camper and awning and windbreak if wanted.

The toilets and shower facilities are very well kept, clean and huge bonus…. decent toilet roll!!! If you find yourself camping as a woman at certain times of the month you know what a difference this makes; both the toilet roll and clean facilities!!

John is so welcoming, friendly and is willing to go that extra mile, he genuinely cares about your experience.

I’m a single mum travelling with my daughter and I felt very comfortable and safe here!! And I was able to truly relax, the energy here is on point!
I even considered whether to cancel moving on and stay a few more nights I love it so much!! Il most definitely be back!!!!

To quote my 5 year old daughter ‘mummy this is the best site ever, my favourite. Can we stop here for the rest of the nights because I want longer’

This site is perfect for anyone with an appreciation for peace, tranquility, no light pollution, stunning views, good vibes, calm energy and cleanliness!!

Disliked LEAVING!!!

From the manager: Thank you so much for such a glowing review, we’re thrilled you and your daughter enjoyed your stay at Mount Pleasant. Knowing you both felt safe, relaxed, and able to make such lovely memories here really means a lot. We also truly appreciate you taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback, your support makes a big difference. It’s wonderful to hear you made the most of the local area too, especially with a visit to the Bude Sea Pool, a favourite with many of our guests. We’d be delighted to welcome you back anytime :)

Local attractions

Bude (five minutes’ drive) is a fabulous place to spend a day or few – as well as some gorgeous beaches in Crooklets and Summerleaze, it's also got an open-air sea pool, a seaside links golf course, a castle and numerous other family-friendly activities. Of course, it’s also known for its surfing, so you might like to bring along a board, hire kit in town or sign up for surf lessons if you need a bit of guidance. Widemouth Bay (10 minutes) is the place to go for consistent surf waves. And if you don’t fancy surfing, perhaps a hike along the local section of the South West Coast Path is more your bag? Elsewhere along the coast, you may like to stop in at the cute fishing village of Port Isaac (45 minutes), see where King Arthur (may have) hung out at Tintagel Castle (40 minutes) or cross into Devon for a day at Westward Ho! (40 minutes). If you’ve got the kids with you, places like the Milky Way Adventure Park (25 minutes) and The Big Sheep (35 minutes) are likely to be popular choices for a day out.
