Meadow Farm Camping: Pitches

General

  • Pop-up Cornwall camping field on a working farm near Bude
  • A 15-minute drive to surfing beaches and the South West Coast Path
  • Walks on site; pubs, shops and watersports within a 15-minute drive

A wild camping site among hay meadows on an arable farm, Meadow Farm Camping has extensive views over a patchwork of Cornish fields. It’s also in pole position for surfers, walkers and beach-loving families, as it's just 15 minutes’ drive from the coast and the long-distance South West Coast Path.

Simple on-site facilities include a communal picnic table and running water available at the pitches (there’s a pond with a water fountain), with loos and a shower block within the camping field. Guests also have access to a washing-up point and a communal fridge. It’s completely off grid, so there’s no electricity – you may want to bring a torch, and pack barbecues and firepits if you want to cook on site.

Please pick your own camping spot on arrival. Dogs are very welcome, but keep them on a lead when you’re exercising them on the farm’s various footpaths. One such footpath leads from the site to the Tamar Lakes (a 50-minute walk or a 10-minute drive), where you can get out on the water, stroll waterside paths and give the bike an airing.

The buzzy seaside town of Bude (15 minutes) has a well-known surfing beach, with gear hire and lessons available as well. It’s also the place for picking up essentials for your campfire suppers, and if you’d rather have a break from cooking, the town also has lots of cosy pubs, tea shops and seafront cafés.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

A charge of £1.00 applies for the use of the shower.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

We biked this last minute for two nights over the jubilee weekend. We wanted a low price hard standing pitch with electric and at £25 a night this fitted the bill.

Very quiet and remote (perfect for us) but easily accessible by car to pubs and shops if that’s what you want.

Lovely big open field with swings for the kids, I loved the feeling of space… although it was very quiet and not sure how many tents they cater for.

The hardstanding pitches were around the edge and were a good size, each one with hook up and a water tap.

The toilet and shower block was lovely and clean, located at the bottom of the field (no hills). There were two showers with toilets and for me these were perfect as you can go in close door and do all your bits in a knee… loo, shower, change and clean teeth, with lots of dry room.

Next to that is the washing up area which was very well equipped (sponges, washing up liquid etc). There was a socket and mirror to do hair and plugs for charging phones and plugging in cool box (for the non hook ups) and a fridge…. All the things you need to make camping more enjoyable and easier.

The staff we met were lovely and helpful and very chilled. No reception, we were messaged our pitch number, and no huge list of dos and donts, I felt very at ease.

There is quite a steep hill into the site, but the exit is at the bottom so no need to pull out up a big hill.

Although this site might not suit all (did I say it was remote) I’d def use it again.

Extremely clean toilets + showers. Really good field and grass. Bins on site. Sink for washing up. Excellent location for nearby beaches etc

    Disliked:

    - The field isn’t as large as expected so might get quite crowded in the busier months.
    - Site is located behind/through industrial site so we were woken up daily by heavy machinery Mon-Wed (jubilee bank holiday)
    - There was a large group of ladies staying (who did turn music off by 11) however vomit was found in the sinks next morning etc. Owner can’t help this though.
    - Toilet and shower are together in a cubicle and there are only 2, so if showers are in use the toilets can’t be used.
