Beautiful view from the top field

  • Friendly site on a scenic nine-hole parkland golf course
  • A 10-minute drive from Bude’s beaches and 15 minutes from Tamar Lakes
  • Hilltop location with far-reaching views; farm shop nearby
Days of golf and outdoorsy Cornish adventures, followed by relaxing eves alongside a scenic nine-hole parkland golf course. That’s what could be on the itinerary at Ivyleaf Golf Course and Campsite, a friendly and relaxed site just off the A39 between Bude (10 minutes’ drive) and Kilkhampton (five minutes). This hilltop location with spectacular views is an excellent base for both Cornwall and Devon adventures. As well as serving up some serious golfing vibes (you’re welcome to tee off on the nine-hole golf course on site), it’s also just 10 minutes’ drive from the coast. Active sorts, scenery aficionados and fans of the surf are likely to appreciate the up-and-down hikes on nearby the South West Coast Path, as well as watersports and surfing beaches. More watersports – this time of the sailing, windsurfing and kayaking variety – are run by the Tamar Lakes Activity Centre, 15 minutes’ drive from the site. For those times where your tummy’s calling out, you may want to take (potentially, plenty of) time to browse the cafés, shops, pubs and places to eat in Bude. Across the border, Clovelly’s cobbles (25 minutes) are just as splendid for a stroll and stops at eateries. Closer to the site are Cornish pubs, restaurants and a farm shop serving fresh produce and essential Cornish pasties within five minutes’ drive. The site facilities are well-equipped and include modern shower rooms, washing-up facilities and a chemical disposal point.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Quiet location and amazing views. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a storm one night and was offered to stay in a pod on site and it was very good.(We ended up staying in a pod all week). The shower block is cleans and tidy with hot water all the time. Small but a nice site.

Disliked: Was a very open site and the wind would have damaged our tent. Maybe some big hedges may break the wind a little.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The views were magnificent from our location at the top of the hill, the visits from the cows were lovely as they passed from field to field next to the camp , the golf course was great and again the scenery and views were breathtaking. The owners and staff were very lovely and helpful, and always had time for chats .

Disliked: The toilets and shower blocks were approx 200 yards from the camp , and down hill then back up to the camp . There was no lighting once it got dark to see any obstacles on route. Golfers used the toilets too so often the floors were muddy . Some resident camp dwellers (one tent ) were extremely loud and played music until midnight ignoring calls to be quiet . There was nothing close by within walking distance , no shops for supplies or places to eat , so a car would be needed.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Excellent washing, toilet and showering facilities. Very clean site with friendly and approachable staff.

Disliked: Having to walk down hill to get to the washing facilities. However, its short walk that helped to warm up for the day and cool down at the end of the day. No WiFi

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: What a beautful place to stay. Beautiful views and very peaceful. Had a hardstanding pitch which overlooked the 9 hole golf course and views to the sea. Water tap and hook up all within easy reach and a roomy pitch. Staff were super friendly and put us at ease. Lovely bathroom sheds with all amenities in each one so could lock yourself in a room with a shower, toilet and sink in one place. Everything kept immaculately clean. Great for privacy. Golf course for a 9 hole was a great challenge for all abilities. Will definitely be returning.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike at all

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very nice views high up but very exposed & challenging in windy weather if camping. Nice clean & hot showers. Short country 10 min drive from Crooklets Beach.

Disliked: Wash & toilet facilities a bit of a trek & separate from the camping field. Very small site with 6 pitches for camping /campervan in top field.

Local attractions

Surfboards and bodyboards at the ready – or a picnic, if that’s your sort of the beach activity. Since Ivyleaf Golf Course and Campsite is so close to the surfing beaches of Bude, including the sweet Summerleaze beach (10 minutes’ drive), you might want to turn up prepared with your wetsuits and surfing gear or make use of lessons and hire from one of the Bude surf schools. Other spots to give yourself a good seaside treatment include Widemouth Bay (10 minutes), Sandymouth Bay beach (10 minutes), Northcott Mouth beach (10 minutes) and Duckpool (15 minutes)… However, it’s not all about the coast, as gorgeous it may be around these parts. Dartmoor National Park (an hour) also has plenty of opportunities for an active day (or a more peaceful one, if you're tired out from catching swells). Perhaps trekking among the Dartmoor ponies, horse riding and tor climbing? River canoeing, letterboxing, geocaching or making your way over the hundreds of miles of paths, tracks and open moorlands?
