Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Like the fact it’s a small and safe feeling site (has security etc) All amenities are close by in a building about 20m away (loos, shower and kitchen for washing up which we didn’t realise until following others in!) The lake and the activities are all absolutely fab. We took our own for the £15 pass. Can use their fire pit (have logs etc at their shop £10 so if you have some maybe bring them)

Disliked: There isnt much you can moan about but could see the fact there is only one shower could mean waiting at times (but we had no problem) The onsite cafe was a bit expensive but prob is because it is more aimed at the lake visitors than the people staying. (£8 for a chicken burger- no chips!) other than those things I don’t foresee any complaints tbh …

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Everything about it, it was a beautiful setting, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place

Disliked: My only very small criticism would be it could have done with a couple more showers I went to use it a couple if times and it was already in use but I survived.

Nicer campsites available with better all round facilities to enjoy.

Lake View fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Good size pitches with bench and fire pit (only wood bought on site can be used) Toilets kept nice.

Disliked: The whole place is a complete money grab. If you want to go for a stroll in the morning you’ll have to walk around the carpark. All activities are extra and no discount for guests- £20 PER PERSON to sit on a tiny mock beach? Found the older lead staff rude, especially the woman checking us in and the gentleman giving someone a swim induction was horrid how he was talking to a young chap! Staff in the activities were nice. Once you’re parked up, unless you want to partake in thier costly activities there is absolutely nothing to do, not even a walk.

Lake View fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: This was such a lovely find. We stayed one night but wished we could have stayed more. It was great having the lake view and having your own picnic table and fire pit. It really looked like we was abroad with the beautiful blue water and the sandy beach area. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The toilets and showers were amazing. So clean and great quality, the best we've seen. We would definitely return again. Great place to relax and enjoy the sun. Highly recommend.

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: The small site was ok. We stayed on hedgerow (facing away from the lake) bizarre I know.

Disliked: Exclusive area to even get near the lake. They want you to rent out sunbeds at £20 EACH bed. Cheaper in Ibiza. No Pinics in this exclusive ‘beach area’ you must purchase any food or drinks from the cafe on site. They sell you fish food for 3.50 a bag but don’t want you loitering in the area. We had our grandson with us and only 2 sun beds were taken but still told me I needed to reserve beds to get near the lake and fish. 8.50 for a cheeseburger thank goodness we had our own food and didn’t have to pay such extortionate prices.

Hedge Row fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Gated with passcode. Good space between pitches. Cute wildfowl wandering around. Beach with sun loungers!! Quiet location. All looks very new and still stuff being added.

Disliked: Getting out the van in the rain to open the wood gate move through and close again was a pain but nothing major. My pitch wasn’t very level but again only a minor issue.

Lake View fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Loved the site, really peaceful and well thought out. The kitchen was handy and every pitch had a fire pit/burner for use if you brought wood from the centre. Picnic bench per plot and clearly marked with ropes so the people on the next pitch cannot encroach onto yours - plenty of space and no need to anyway! Kayaking was great and the wellness centre was well worth paying for! We were there for the night of the monthly glow swim/paddle which was fun to see and we are looking forward to taking part in one in the future with friends. We got to chat to the owner too who was really friendly and proud of the site (rightly so). We will defo return, but not in high season!

Disliked: The only downside to our stay was when we arrived on the Friday afternoon, all the bins on the site were full (some overflowing) so we struggled to throw anything away. It doesn’t appear anything is recycled either as all the bins just had everything chucked in. One thing that didn’t effect us as the site was quiet but we did note was that in full season one washing up sink, four toilets, one shower and two basins are likely to be very busy if all 10 pitches are full and potentially 40 campers using them plus visitors using water sports and wellness centre.

Local attractions

If you can drag everybody away from the lake, there’s lots of heritage stuff to see in this corner of Kent. Historic Rochester (20 minutes’ drive) has a stately Norman castle and a Gothic-era cathedral to explore, while neighbouring Chatham (half an hour) showcases centuries of naval history at Chatham Historic Dockyard, where you can tour the World War II destroyer HMS Cavalier and the Cold War-era submarine HMS Ocelot. The spectacular moated Leeds Castle (25 minutes) has enough craft workshops, museums, events and sculpture trails to keep the family busy all day. However, should the siren call of culture start to wane with the kids, take them to Diggerland Kent (10 minutes) for some time moving earthworks and shifting soil around on JCBs. No need to panic if it rains either, as you can divert to the bowling lanes at Hollywood Bowl Rochester (10 minutes). If you’d care to wander further afield, London sights like Greenwich Palace, The Prime Meridian and the National Maritime Museum can be reached in less than an hour’s drive.
