  • Glamping at a peaceful 17-acre farm in the South Downs National Park
  • Ramster Gardens and Birdworld within a half-hour drive
  • Award-winning village pub less than a mile away
Fancy a peaceful farm stay – but also pretty partial to the idea of having an award-winning village pub close by? That’s what you’ll get when you book into one of the glamping units at Hazelbank Farm, 10 minutes’ drive from Liphook in the South Downs National Park (and around an hour’s drive from southwest London, making it a handy escape spot for city folk…) This is a special property indeed, with 17 acres of wildflower meadows and ancient woodland to its name and a location within the dark core of the national park’s International Dark Skies Reserve (excellent news for keen stargazers, or just those who like the idea of an evening under the starry skies…) There’s just a couple of units at this farm so there’s plenty of space and peace for guests; you’ll be sharing it with the resident ponies, sheep and rescue chickens (who frequently lay eggs for a tasty rural breakfast). Each of the units is completely self contained with its own ensuite bathroom and kitchenette, plus all sorts of lovely extras including a TV, heating, atmospheric fairy lights and an outdoor area with a picnic table, firepit and barbecue so you can settle in for an evening of stargazing. Bed linen and towels are provided to keep your packing list light. And what about that pub? Well, it’s a cosy spot in the local village of Milland, serving up an ever-changing menu that reflects the best seasonal flavours. The village also has a café and well-stocked shop for all your barbecue/picnic requirements.

Local attractions

Come along to stay here and you’ll be pretty much in the centre of the South Downs National Park, and within easy reach of most of its top spots. Walkers should find plenty of trails to follow through the area’s hills and forests, and other activities can include golf at Liphook Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive), mountain bike adventures at Rogate Downhill B1kepark (10 minutes) or treetop trails at Go Ape Alice Holt (25 minutes). This area is also packed with pretty gardens to visit – places like National Trust - Woolbeding Gardens (10 minutes), Petersfield Physic Garden (15 minutes) and Ramster Gardens (25 minutes) are all worth a trip. For other outdoor wanders, try the incredible outdoor artworks at The Sculpture Park (20 minutes) or animal encounters including penguin feeding at Birdworld (25 minutes). The national park runs almost all the way down to the coast, so you may like to bring your beach things for a day in West Wittering or Bognor Regis (both 50 minutes) or explore the maritime city of Portsmouth (35 minutes).
